School Teachers Working as Tutors

I hope you're not teaching English... :scared:verykiasumummy:
agree agree agree....
I am a full-time tutor. I have friends who are teachers. Most complained about the huge amount of admin work they have to do. I think if benefits for teachers are better, reduce the admin work, etc.. Not many teachers will quit to become ex-school teachers/tutors. Being school teachers is a more stable job than tutors. Being tutors, we also face some problems like students anyhow cancel lessons and/or owing tuition fees. -

anyway, u delete the quotes wrongly liao la... now it shows like i as the one saying i'm a tutor... -
when we started, my current teacher-tutor also asked what we want to focus on.
i will highlight my area of concern weekly.
after a while, besides what i highlighted, she will add in her own stuff to try to build up ds1's vocab and 'language-sense'
but mainly geared by which areas of improvement i want to see.
not very experienced, but very committed and knows how to motivate the kid. -
Yes, it was supposed to be sarcastic. However, it’s not directed at you. Sorry about the wrongly-deleted quotes. It’s directed at elderflowertea. For the bad grammar.

it is true to a certain extent, but those big bucks we are talking about can far cover those that they lose... i see some threads here mentioning $80/hr, $100/hr. say 1 week work 30hrs, 1 mth will be $12k... wow...[/quote]But remember no CPF, no MC, no annual leave, no medical coverage, end-of-year holidays when demand is low.......

when i meant is that, wouldnt school teachers who are also giving tuition now choose to quit from their positions and become ex-sch teachers so that they can earn those big bucks? that would mean moe needs to employ more new teachers, and still need to give training and they are not guaranteed passionate still.. after some yrs of teaching, they are good in it and den quit again to become ex-sch teachers to earn big bucks...
are we solving the problem or creating another problem??? -

Most of them should be earning quite a lot by the time they finish their bond. I have one relative earning about $8000 per month teaching in a JC.
