if we talking about jc, i hv friends who engage current jc tutor to teach her ds at $200/hr... and she told me that is the norm...

we are talking about pri teachers, they should hv just about $4k or $5k... so if quit and become full time ex-teacher tutor, they can earn at least $12k... good income for them..

After that, they would have CCAs till about 10pm before they pack home more worksheets to be cleared at home...

Till now, I find it unbelievable.
Can anyone tell me if this is true?

all my dc never had cca till 10pm... who said that??

since when there is night remedial classes?? remedial is always after sch in the afternoon...

I don’t know actually. I heard this from my friend, who heard this from her Primary school teacher.

Another friend working as a teacher told me they did this in her previous school.

But these are the top schools.

I just find it unbelievable. I mean, how does one survive or have good health if one is to live with this kind of lifestyle?

Teachers’ pay wise, I understand it depends on whether they are degree holders or diploma holders. The difference in the salary is HUGE. (Unsure of their starting pay though, with the new scheme).

Full-time ex-teacher tutors are earning big bucks? I disagree. I disagree completely!
Would $20/hr for a P3 level be considered high? hhaha…

So nope. Tuition doesn’t make one rich easily.
And nope, I didn’t take up those assignments that I feel are belittling my ability either.

Your relative earns $8k per month by just teaching in a JC? Not very likely unless he/she holds key position and has reached his scale ceiling, or he/she is a school leader. I know a retired Maths teachers whose last drawn pay was only $6k plus.

Starting pay for degree-qualified teachers is 2.9k, 3.2k with honours.
Dip holders get around 1.9k as their starting pay.

My nephew is HOD PE in a secondary school and he draws around 7k.

your nephew is a key personnel in the school and therefore it is possible for him to be paid 7k to 8k plus.

For a normal teacher who is not in the middle-management, maximum is 7k plus and he/she has reached his salary scale ceiling.

I am unsure of degree holders.

But when I first started with a Diploma as untrained tr in the 1990s, it was less than $1.2k.
Even after NIE, the pay wasn't more than $1.4k.
In fact, in 2006, I was still drawing around $1.6k.

My colleagues weren't drawing fantastic pay either.

I really wish I was drawing high pay like $6k and more from what I have read.

But the reality told me otherwise.
