The porter at your point of embarkation will ask you for your cabin number and tag your bags when you pass your bags to them.
        Enjoy your cruise! :celebrate:

back ! overall, i had a great time dining & watching the night show !! facilities wise (not as fantastic as i imagine it to be.) we get to see sun rise from our room, and create story with the kids abt sea monster lol ! the pool water was way too saltish for the kids, my boy even vomited when he was choked by the saltish water… we missed the kids’ activities sessions… partly cos we dun want to leavemy girl alone there while we go n explore other part of the ship !

food was fantastic ! the waiter is the same throughout the dinner. we had all our meals at romeo & Juliet, except the buffet lunch on first day where they lead us there and it was super crowded !

          for a 3 days 2 nights, i feel i give a 7 /10 … may consider for a short trip like this again… long trip ? no way… too boring ! hah !

            Glad u enjoyed yourselves 🙂
Asian trip cannot be long la, since most of us have visited these cities already. Long trips must go Alaska or Europe where you get off the ship daily to visit the diff places. Then will not be boring 🙂

Can I check how many nights are formal dining? I remember reading somewhere that the formal dining is only for those night cruising at sea? How many nights are there in total? 2? And how many formal is formal? Strictly formal kind?

Sorry for so many questions. My trip to Klang and Phuket is in 2 weeks times. Need to start packing now especially if the dining setting is strictly formal!

for the malacca cruise, we dined in romeo & juliet for breakfast/lunch - being served but free seating and also dinner (fixed seating)

actually, we wear dress and long sleeves for dinners, but we still spotted people with shorts & slipper… sigh… they said casual in the daily schedule for dinner, but no shorts/slippers…

we din have meet the captain sessions but on our last day, the kitchen crew/chefs came out to sing for us. very touching !

So how does RC differ from Star Cruise?
All meals buffet style? How many times a day can eat? 😉

I have taken both Star Cruise and RC. RC wins hands down for sure IMO. I'll go RC again in a heart beat, but not likely to consider Star Cruise again. I find RC better organized and I like the dining in the main dining room.

Foodwise, Star is mainly buffet. Hate to have to book for dining if i want better food. The main dining room food and service in Star is nothing compared to RC. RC service is much much better and higher end and more towards fine dining. Star is like any family restaurant service, ie no big deal and nothing to shout about.

You can eat anytime you want, as many times as you like on RC. Even room service is included. At any point in time, some restaurant somewhere on the ship will be servicing food.

Disembarkation - Hate the rushing to disembark in Star. RC is no rush and don't have to push and shove. Star make everyone go to a big room to wait to disembark, really can't stand it. We disembark at our own pace in RC.

But i must qualify that my experience with Star is on Asian cruise, but on RC was Alaskan and European. Asian cruise on Star gives me the impression that all the aunties and uncles are there for the casino only, but then, since I did not take the RC Asian cruise, dunno if RC in Asia also like Star. 🤷

for RC to Malacca, eventhough there are about 2k passengers on board but everywhere we went is not crowded. it’s like people are disperse in different areas at any 1 time. queue to meals are not long, can always get in within 10-15 mins. and i wonder where are those people on board, then i realise that our dinner/show are split into batches, first batch go for dinner at 6pm, then show at 830pm. those dined at 8pm will watch thre show earlier at 630pm. etc

pools are never full, my kids get to share the pool with just 4 others… wonder why too… this is indoor pool. outdoor pools have more people but still not full or crowded.

casinos are ok maybe more people went at night, but as i have young kids, we went back after the show ended at 930 or so, my girl follows her grandparents to late show until 10 plus to 11pm …

it’s just nice to be on board that we get to slowly stroll on the ship, enjoy the facilities and food … n no need to queue for things or squeeze in crowd.

dining is the best experience i had on board ! the waiter is just nice and crack jokes… and they also help to entertain the kids… making them want to go back to the restaurant again…
