I'm still unsure of opting in Gep. My dd is keen but I'm not sure.

yes am in process of gathering info. will let ds1 make final decision but will present info to him.

yes i am considering both nyps and hpps, due to distance as well, but i'm much further than you, i think.

some differences between these 2 schools you can chew on:
NYPS : HPPS
1. SAP school: not SAP
2. mainly Chinese: more diversity
3. full max class size: smaller class size
4. larger total no.: smaller GEP center
5. different CCA strengths............................
last point applies to you, not me
6. affliation to NYGH : no affiliation

Kabby, my friend told me NYPS violin ensemble is led by a teacher from Nafa masterclasses.


For Chinese orchestra, you might want to ask for more details from NYPS this Sat. My friend wasn’t too happy with the way the group was handled. But that was 2 years ago.

for those who studied in Catholic high primary, after PSLE can only go to catholic high and chances to go to other schools like HCI is not high? how about Rosyth, which school do they normally go to after PSLE?

Is this so? Can only go to CH (secondary)? Wouldn't where you go depends on results and choice?

I heard that Catholic High is going IP programme from 2013 onwards and their entry criteria are getting stringent. Those in their primary will also need to get the minimum entry before they can go to their secondary.

Mine is eyeing badminton too!

Apparently no selection process for badminton in NYPS. All are welcome to join badminton but the coaches will select & groom those with potential for school team.

Any GEP parents with kids in RGPS or NYPS care to share about these 2 schools?

My DD is currently in a SAP school doing HCL.
I am not sure what is the great benefit to do GEP HCL. That’s why I am geared towards RGPS. But I like NYPS chinese cultures and values.

Any 2 cents worth?

I would like to hear the views of existing GEP parents on CCA (if you are not one But have a strong opinion, yes, I would like to hear from you too! ) I understand that Geppers can opt out of CCA. Is having a CCA straining on the kid especially before SYF/competitions? Conversely, will not having a CCA be unhealthy for the kid?
