Travel: Australia - Gold Coast

will 2yo & 3.5yo be too young to travel to gold coast? not sure if they can take the 7hr flight. pls advise.

mummyJune, no issues, i went to melbourne with y 2 kids when they were 4 plus & 2… but we were on SIA, they play after got on… SIA gave them kids’ pack… after that meal… then sleep… it’s not that long actually…

mummyJune, i haven been to GC… planning… haaaa… still haven decided whether GC or Sydney… some told me GC not suitable for young kids… thus, im hesitating. and trying to read up more on things to do there… sydney, DH said will be bored… but from the forum thread it’s otherwise… so. haven decided.

my gf just came back from GC recently. her child is older,9yo. they went all 3 theme parks, some shopping. overall she told me the entire trip is very enjoyable & fun, kept telling me i should go. but my kids still so young, want to bring them go also ve to think twice. :roll:

mummyJune, agree… but from the forum, seaworld, dolphin feeding, and the santuary to see/ feed kangaroos… and also the surfer paradise (to see n play water since kids dont get to see people surf in spore)… may be a nice experience… for the kids.

At 2 and 3.5 yo, I think your kids are too young to enjoy the offerings of GC. Your gf's kid is 9 and that is a big big difference. Your kids won't be able to enjoy the theme parks, too young for lots of rides. Seaworld has shows and your kid's may not understand fully. Better go when they are older and meet the height requirements for the rides. Shopping is nothing to shout abt in Australia. Exchange rate not in our favour and Aussies are not global trend setters in fashion, to say the least.

At your kids age, I don't think they can tell one destination from another. They'll probably enjoy a cruise or beach vacation better and you'll be more relaxed too, IMO. Otherwise if you are set on going Australia, self drive Perth and WA may be a better option. Shorter flight, no theme parks, but can still enjoy underwater observatory at busselton, visit frementle, visit swan valley etc.
