No, I'm sure the teachers have been trained over the past two years since the new syllabus was announced.

Is http://www.moe.edu.sg/education/syllabuses/languages-and-literature/files/english-primary-secondary-express-normal-academic.pdf that will be implemented from 2013? If yes, it looks very (very) comprehensive, and perhaps, challenging, for some kids. This is based on what I skimmed just now. I am still going through the daunting 144-page PDF.

Hopefully we get more clearer info soon. My DD scores well with the current oral system. I am bit worried now.

[quote=\"ponyo\"]My eyes nearly popped out when I saw this. Had to do a double take and check if it is really prepping the current P3 batch for PSLE :rotflmao:

Think still have enough time right? or are parents of current P3 really starting the prep work now (worry liao...) :yikes:

😉 Not really the preparation but this thread will keep us under one section to discuss anything related to current P3 which could eventually help in PSLE.

Actually the kids are already progressing towards that with Stellar/ Show and Tell and those pix compos with the last box as a ? (so that the kids can build up the story using their own thoughts).

Of course, it will slowly become more geared towards what they want to achieve based on syllabus in P4 /P5.

I note that for some schools they use a literature /storybook text to teach English in upper primary so that will help towards the critical thinking/examination part

My eyes popped out when I saw this thread for 2015 PSLE. My daughter will be taking hers in 2016. Not too early to prepare her…first for P3 and then build up momentum for P6. Training for Olympics.

Yes, my school uses Roald dahl books from P3.

Son read BFG, Charlie and chocolate factory, A Wrinkle in time for English. For Chinese, it was sun wukong and shui hu zhuan.

May I ask if your boy reads them for school or on his own? What is BFG?

BFG = Big Friendly Giant (by Ronald Dahl)

some schools used Ronald Dahl's books, start from P1.
                        eg: The Magic Finger
