Sorry to jump in...but do give your child lots of encouragement when he/she goes to P6. Teachers will push like crazy. Sit down with your son and ask him which area he needs help. Son flunked math overall in p5 bcos his ca1 and sa1 pulled him down. At p6, the big picture is PSLE, not that prelim is not impt but look ahead.happyheart:
DS did not pass his Maths. I don't even know how to begin P5 revision to build him up again, not to mention how to battle P6 syllabus and face the pressure cooker next year:( He is so disappointed with himself and my heart aches..a lot to see him so beaten up.
Just started on his fourth tutor, can only hope for the best. Just voicing out here but trying hard to put up a positive front to continue cheering him on. -

yes, remember THE BIG PICTURE - PSLE.Can't sleep at night, eyes are wide open thinking of what is the next step. Keeps reminding myself PSLE is the big picture...hopefully things will turn around.
Thank you all for your encouragement! To other parents who are facing similar situations, let's keep our spirits up! FOR OUR KIDS!
do not scream, or yell at kids...they will wake up. mine did wake up in september...better late than never. -
Thanks Janet! That day DS asked me if I will still love him no matter which sec school he goes..:( So sad right? coming from a 11 years old.

hey happyheart, it's early for your son to think of sec school now...hubby's colleagues kept bugging him way before psle which schools we are aiming for... super :siao: it's not that i want and i will get it, lots of factors involved.
my son got a little panicky of late...psle results will be out pretty soon. i told him I SAW the effort he put in, and that is important...of course i do wish he did very well so that he will be motivated to work harder when he moves to secondary school...but i didn't say this. -

I think every kid has different strength & ability. Most important is he tries his best & don't give up. As a parent, you know he has been trying, do give him some time & he will improve. Set a realistic & attainable goal & work towards it. All the best to your son. :rahrah: -

No, they are not available during school holidays. However, you can find a lot of other interesting magazines in the library.Hi, I'm new to the forum.
My DS is weak both in English & Chinese. I know that reading newspaper can help but may I know how to choose articles from the newspaper? My DS don't read Strait Times nor LianHeZhaoBao articles, found is a bit difficult to understand from it. Is Little Red Dot and Big Thumb available in school holiday? -

My P5 daughter failed badly for her English SA1 and SA2, esp her vocabulary sections. Is there a list of words that the students must knows? There are so many vocabulary assessment books and i don't know where to start from as there is not much time left. Can anyone help?tks!
Agree with happy heart, vocabulary can't be build over night. She needs to read more to expand her vocab. Since English paper consists of many components, she needs to depend on her compo, compre & oral to pull up her score. Make good use of the school holidays to pick up. All the best to your DD. :rahrah: -

English comprises of many components, but not all are heavy weight.jumpety:

So the 3 areas mentioned by mummy so kiasu are crucial. Oh yes, comprehension cloze also...15 marks.
All the best. -

Hi jumpety,
English is getting more difficult…when I compare between this year and last year’s PSLE. Wonder if it has anything to do with dragon batch of kids.
If your daughter needs help, get tutor before they are unavailable. Once term starts, tutors will have tight schedule. March, June and Sep holidays are usually confirmed way in advance. After June, tutors do not take anymore students.
