I have to agree with whitecorp. I ever enquire on the entry level for NIE courses and it seems that they not concern with \"me\" as a whole; just my poly/A'levels results will do the trick.

Similarly, I have a friend who has a degree with NIE and what I heard from her is that \"It give me more $$ for tutoring after I finish my bond with MOE\". I will not disclose her name as she's a mutual friend.

Most importantly, I feel that track records and the passion in teaching is far more important.

this is unbecoming.. teachers are not interviewed for character check??

Not exactly. I just have to take up the bond with MOE and pass the course. Better still, get paid for the bond. Some would feel that it's a fulfilling and stable job thus joining the education industry; not because of the passion..

That’s exactly the reason why I ended up not joining NIE. I cannot comprehend what I would learn from them except what would be taught academically, which I think I have gained them over my tutoring experience. The other benefit is gaining MOE resources which I think isn’t sufficient.

The salary isn’t that high either so most teachers who satisfied the bond terms and feel that she can do more than what the school can, would have quit teaching in school and do private tutoring as well.

p4 $100 per hour way too ex. even if ex school teacher also doesnt command such rate. for a full time experienced tutor, pri sch up to $50 / hr is still ok.

only for JC level, $100/hour is common.

                      Hi

I am looking for tutors for my gal who is going P3 next year, found one which she quote one-to-one $50/hr, 2 hrs per lesson or group max 8 students for $270 per 4 lessons, each lesson 2 hr, going to her place. The lessons cover english, science and math. She also requested for a start, my gal need to attend 5 days lessons continually without any break.

As my gal only having tuition for English by her ex form teacher which she charge v low cost since she is only do out of good will and not "business" so I am not sure how much should I pay if sending my gal for other tuition.

Pls advise is the above charges reasonable? Or anyone can recommend any tutors for me? I am staying at Pasir Ris. As my gal scored very badly this year except for english so she really need to have tuitions for all subject.

                      Thanks in advance.
