can recommend your private tutor for chinese, mine is pri3 girl next year. thanksMy son attended Jiang for 6 months in P5 and I have to say that we were disappointed with the result. His result dipped from 80+ to 60+. Now after we stopped and got a private tutor instead, his result is back to 80+.
The classroom is so big (at least 20 students) and so cramped.... -
My son attended Jiang since P3 till IB Year 4. Did very well for his CL&HCL
Now my 2nd & 3rd children also attend Jiang (since K2) & are always in the top 10 in Jiang class for each semester exam. I see a lot of improvement in their interest in the subject & they are motivated to complete their Jiang homework during the weekend. Prior to exam, I do not have to prepare them like other subjects as their 3-hour weekly programme plus homework is more than sufficient.
Postitive :
- Teachers generally very good
- Materials also very good & stay current to daily newspapers
Negative :
- Classroom very cramp sometimes 22 kids
- Uses old fashion black board & chalk & duster
- Some rooms carpet are worn out
- Principal "forces" teacher to "push" for kids to enrol for holiday program otherwise …
- Collect upfront about $900 per child in early Oct for next year Jan to May program; & again collect in April for July to Nov program (Jiang earn a lot of interest!!!) imagine 250 students per level!
At the end of it, results still count. I will still send my kids there. -
3 hour per week at one time?
that a lot!
regard paying up front a large fees.it still need to be on Waiting list?
What if can’t attend the holiday program?
to me.holiday is holiday. If program it is should be fun like going for camp not study!. -

holiday program is optional but teacher will pressure kids to pressure us parents but I will deal directly with teacher instead of having the kids to tell teacher we are not joing the class. Holiday lessons are good for those who are weak in certain areas & families with deep pockets & ample time with own transport/driver to fetch kids around.
3 weeks per topic S$450+ maybe just comprehension; if compo is included, will be another 2 hours same 3 weeks etc. (15 lessons - 5 days a week x 2 hours everyday) - ie. cannot be away for 3 full weeks. Everyday have to fetch kids there & return.
Another point is that registration is open for existing students 1st should child want to retain the same class day/time slot; Usually before the exam even started; then 2nd for existing students who wish to change their day/time slots & then finally for other new students. Once you paid up in Sep/Oct, you are guaranteed a place Commitment is there. -

My kids just started at Jiang earlier in Sep. For the holiday programs, my kids just brought back the schedule. For my K2 son, as the teacher is with them when we pick them up, she just asked me once and I told her that both parents are working and hence not possible to send them for 2-3 hrs classes during hols. For my P2 daughter, I asked her to explain to the teacher and even when i bump into the teacher b4/after class, no mention of signing up for the holiday programs. So I din experience any "pressure" from either teachers.
My P2 daughter’s year end grade improved tremendously after just 1.5mths lesson with them. We were quite happy and will be letting her continue in P3.
