My youngest boy eats very slowly, about 2 hours to finish. And he’s primary 5 next year!

My sis was like this too. And she still is today.

First thing she says when my maid opens the door \"ANYTHING TO EAT?\"
Her nickname is anything-to-eat. Bringing her to buffet is really value for money! She can really eat and eat and eat. And she only grows TALLER, never fatter!

It's ok as long as they are not putting on unhealthy weight 🙂 Puberty -> they need more energy to grow.
I guess it must be puberty. What I am afraid is that her appetite got so used to that kind of \"capacity\" even after puberty. You know what... After she saw my post abt her, she started skipping everyday. Wonder how long will that last.. :? I agree with u 100% that bringing them to buffet is really VALUE for $$.

:!: Then who feed him, your maid?

I felt keep asking kids to come back for next spoon is tiring job for me! My kids are not allowed to leave dining table before finishing their meal. However my youngest boy still can take abt 1 hr to finish his meal... :stupid:

He always forget to chew and swallow when he focus on other things like listening others conversation! I have to keep on nagging and nagging on him almost every meal. Luckily the other 2 kids are fast eater.

My DD1 (13yrs) has quite a big appetite. She can finish a big plate of rice for dinner (7pm) yet still hv space for supper 10.30pm (2-3 slices of bread). .... But thankfully, she is of average size & weight. Phew!

My sis was like this too. And she still is today.

girlmum, what is your dd1 height and weight ?

My dd is also quite reasonable eater on proper meal but not on buffet. Like mrswongtution's sis, she grows tall and not fat yet.

my gal also takes 2 hours to finish her dinner. Can I just check with you, how your son manage to cope during recess? The time is pretty short, think its only 30mins? I m worried how my gal will cope next year when she’s in P1.

Try using this method? Tell a story, make up any story and change the storyline along the way. For you to continue telling the story, the kid has to eat another mouth full. Worked well with my #4 and#5.

Another one. For the meal, have another of their favourite drink (milo?) or food (candies?), for every mouthful, give either a sip of drink or a pitch (size of a pi sai) of the candy. Works also leh…

Still doesn’t work? Administer Lysine or Cod liver oil. Also works everytime for me.

Lysine didn't work for us. I'm giving him acidophillus (dunno spelling) for better absorption from what he already eats.

Basically, I don't fight. I just request that he tries to finish his milk (people say don't give milk with meals cos it makes them full, but in my experience, something is better than nothing ). Then I hope that over the course of the day or week, his average food intake is ok.

Everybody will grow up one lah. Besides, I'm saving my energy for other battles ...

                        Just for laughs 😄

                        Poor kid may get indigestion...
