To all the parents of kids currently schooling in GY, i have a few questions i hope u could help me with. my daughter will reg for p1 next yr and its now decision between kcps, townsville n gy. GY is a stone throw away fm our house but my concern is its reputation, i hope someone can break the myth for me…

1) how is the school culture like? Are the teachers genuinely caring? Earlier posts show division among the teachers coz of a new P, I’m wondering if that’s still the case?

- with regards to the P can anyone observe her leadership? How’s the morale of the teachers?

2) I read in Kbps forum on how teachers get nasty n impatient from p3 onwards, is that true for all schools and in GY too?

3) are the teachers approachable? Is the teacher parents network good, like are they easily available for consultation?

4) someone told me the class size is smaller than national average, which sounds great to me. Is that true?

5) how r the students like? I tend to bump into really rowdy ones at the bus stops so they don’t leave a gd impression

6) are your kids happy? Would u recommend people to send their kids to GY?

Sorry for the long list, I only have one daughter so u can imagine the typical gan Cheong mummy.

I just want a school with a holistic learning environment, genuinely caring teachers who wouldn’t judge and label a kid immediately and really guide the kids and impart good learning habits n moral values to them.

I want her to enjoy primary school. The tonnes of horror stories out there abt stressful p1 life is freaking me out. She’s enjoying her kindergarten so much now it would be sad if she were to detest pri school next time.

Hope I’m not thinking too much, hope to hear from u experienced parents out there!!!

May I know if GYPS been offering Higher Chinese all this while. Just bot the school books & noticed there’s Higher Chinese.

According to my Hubby who bought the books, he said the GYPS offered Higher Chinese but only 1st semester HC books are available and if child not suited to pursue HC will be on just Chinese in 2nd semester.

Wow ! Happy to read these.my kids r very excited abt their new school after orientation as their teachers engaged them well perhaps !

We have not yet purchased uniforms and books bcoz of long Q tht day.
