I'm currently staying at Telok Blangah area and will be moving to Upper Serangoon View in 2016, which my boy will be P2 then.

I am now in a dilemma as not too sure should I be registering him at Radin Mas or schools near our new place... Problem is, when we move, i will need to put him at my IL place at Yishun after school. Not too sure if they have school bus service from TB to Yishun... Also not forgetting Radin Mas will be morning session only by then & my poor boy have to wake up so early.

If u were me, what would u do?
Wow, that is more than 15km of travel to school every morning from your new location. It will be very stressful for the child and the parent.

If you are not going for the popular school, I would think that transferring of school after Primary 1 is better. Otherwise, get a good school near Upper Serangoon View and suffer for the 1st year.

This P1 thing is really stressing me up. :imdrowning:

Hi have a question if anyone can help me? I hope to get my child into school via phase 2B. When should I approach the clan for the recommendation letter? Will they be able to issue it 1 year in advance (2013) instead of 2014 (the year the child goes for registration)? Or will they only send out the letter on the year the child is due for registration ie: between Jan 2014 to June 2014?

You need to do Statutory Declaration if your official address published in your NRIC is different from the address to be used for P1 registration.

If you are registering in 2014 and your new house will be ready by 2016, you should be using the address of your new house.

                Extracted from MOE website:

I have purchased a yet-to-be completed property and should be moving in after the property is completed. Can I make use of the new home address for the purpose of registration?

Yes. The new home address can be used provided that you are able to produce evidence from the relevant authority that you have committed to the purchase of this property. In the case of private property, you must produce the original copy of the Sales and Purchase Agreement. For the 2012 P1 Registration Exercise, the date of commitment by the developer in the Temporary Occupation Permit (T.O.P.) must not be later than 31 Dec 2014. In the case of HDB flat, the Agreement for Lease is required. Parents must move into the new property within two years of the child's entry into Primary One otherwise the child will be transferred out of the school.

Parents will be able to make a SD, if they meet the eligibility criteria :

But on hindsight, it is a great idea to have started this thread to steer parents in the right direction :rahrah: :rahrah:
