          Suku,

Thanks for your understanding. Actually the number I supplied is not plucked from the air. The counting done by some parent-friends and the counting done by girls offered GEP, tallies. The number Funz DD counted/heard tallies too. Today, the girls are all brought to meet their new classmates for 2013... And, it's still the same number for GEP, and this is the second time they are all gathered in one place. It still is 20plus, closer to 30 cos we do not know who has gone off for a holiday or quit GEP. But there are confirmed 27 faces. My DD is one of them and she certainly can count. So, RGPS has done very well.

The numbers were shared in approximate numbers cos two people asked. One out of general concern, the other to gauge her daughter's chances to be posted to RGPS GEP. I specified that these numbers were unofficial, twice, and explained why this is so (principal does not say).

If we cannot trust our parent-friends and we cannot trust our GEP girls to add simply from 1 to 30, and choose to trust a person who claims stats from last year that is similarly unannounced by rgps PLUS GEP averages of reputed schools that MOE will never release... That would be too gullible for words.

Not only so, I find it simply RUDE to that he/she would impersonate as one of us, and insinuate that RGPS can never do so well...ok, maybe I got a bit too \"patriotic\" haha. If this person is so keen to fact-find, then stick to official sources like MOE and school websites, why resort to kiasuparents?

Anyway, GEP is a superficial yardstick for how well a school has done, and so are PSLE results which are due soon. I have a bunch of mommy friends with P6 girls all waiting.... Hopefully it will be a good year cos I know the girls have worked hard. Heard a few papers were not easy this year... But oh, this is unverified again cos well, I did not sit for them myself!

Suku, if u really want to know how your DD did, use the class and level averages on the exam and test scripts. It is actually a very useful and accurate tool....more useful than trying to read the facial expressions of teachers. If you want to know greater detail, for instance, what it takes to qualify for EF classes, you have to make some friends and ask around. Approximate figures have been mentioned many many times on this board.

          Happy holidays!
Thanks meekopeeko, u r absolutely correct, as I recalled your initial reply was to help clear some questions that was raised on the GEP program in the school. Somehow as a parent with a dd in the school and there is certain pride and belief in the workings of the school. Whether we agree or not on all aspects of such workings, there is an undeniable achievements (academic or how our DD turn out) that the school had delivered over the years.

Certainly, we do not need extra advertisment by inflating the number girls selected for GEP. On the contrary, perhaps you are just reflecting a common traits of many RGPS parent. The strong parent support. The helping out of the activities of the school or in this case, helping other parent of younger/new girls of the school to find their way or provide some glimpse of the path. Unfortunately, it was misused.

Thanks for the advice, getting E/F is not a priority yet... hee hee i over psyched DD to study hard during school term (no TV, no computer) so that she can play hard during the hols.... Unfortunately I have to keep my bargain before I can tighten the screw comes January (otherwise she will challenge me, these kids from rgps memory very good)...

Once again thanks the mummies/daddies for the strong parent support that impart important values to our gals, and also to the mummies/daddies on this thread on providing informal information so that we can know what to expect when we comes to the bridge. Keeps up the updates/discussion of ur gals...

Meanwhile, let's enjoys a well deserved break, free from homework, english and CL spellings and tests... ya, our DD should have a little break too, while we recuperate... Happy start of school holiday.

285 is from Nangyang GEP, and other 2 schools.
