Hi, I am a student from DHS. My sister will be P6 next year, so I took a look at this discussion forum just now n found that parents here are as anxious as my parents are now. I've decided to be more active here from now till the end of PSLE next yr, sharing tips n at the same time know more of the parents here. 🙂

Welcome! As a student, would you like to share your thoughts and experience? How do you or your friends really feel about this exam prep?

Build children's stamina and momentum over these 9 months...Teaching still goes on from Jan to June...after which it will be revision...doing past year papers. Supplementary lessons will intensify towards Aug.

Oral exam in Aug is BIG ticket...so try to score.

Thanks Janet... Hope this doesn't sound too privy but I did read the 2012 psle thread.... Wish you the best tmr 🙂

          Thank you clay.

            Hi Everyone

I contributed to the 2012 PSLE Discussions and Strategy thread earlier this year but don't pop by the Forum too much these days due to family and work commitments.

If you are interested in some of the strategies I shared, feel free to key in my moniker using the Search function and help yourselves....

I am dropping by today though because I have had some of my resources returned to me by parents who had borrowed them in 2012 and while most of these returned resources have been 'reserved\" by friends and friends of friends, but I do have approximately 20 thin folders of Chinese oral materials which no one has \"choped\". If you search my earlier sharings about how I helped my kids with Chinese Oral, you'll have a better idea what materials these folders contain.

The 20 thin volumes are A4 sized plastic folders and stacked one on the other, come to an aggregate height of about 25cm.

I am happy to pass these on FOC (in one complete set of the approximately 20 volumes), if you think your child might find these useful [ they are more suited for kids who hardly speak Mandarin at home and there is no magic in them - just resources from quite a few Chinese Oral guides re-organised to help build topical vocabulary].

I am afraid that you would have to arrange to self-collect the folders from my office [which is in the River Valley area] during office hours [including lunchtime] Mondays to Fridays.

Send me a PM if you want the notes. I'll give them to whoever responds first though - so sorry I can't help to make copies but work is just mounting here 😞

            God Bless!

                Hi all past PSLE parents,

A request. What are the good sources for Oral? Any strategies for learning. My DD not motivated at all. Am in despair over her attitude. Lot of expectations at her school as she used to be a good performer but since my DS had been ill for 2 years (thankfully now he is in recovery), my daughter seems to have lost motivation as I was not able to sit with her while my son was in hospital. Now am trying hard to get her to focus, but no avail…any suggestions, advice would be most helpful…thank you all.

Hi I’m new to this site and forum. For parents whose children have gone thru PSLE, what would be the one take away you can share from the experience that most benefitted or helped your children to cope and do well for the exam.

My son is an average student (scored 2Bs & 2Cs) for P5 exams. How can I best make use of this school hols to better prepare him for P6 & the big exam? Some have advised to let him start practising past year exam papers, but will that cause a burn out too early?

My tip is get an effective tutor to help out in last lap revision. It does wonders. Just to share with you my girl's before and after tuition results.....

Congrats!! :rahrah: Quite a high PSLE score~ Actually I also experienced the same 'effect' after I went for tuition(which I nvr had b4 in pri sch until p6 term 2) I am considered one of the underperformer in P6 (in terms of the standard in the top class which I was in). I went for tuition and my Chinese grade improved from B to A*, HCL grade from pass to merit(I am weak in Chinese). During Prelim, I was the 2nd in the whole level(CL). All thanks to my chinese tutor! Actually I was weak in Compre n she helped she to understand the whole passage n explain the questions n meanings of vocab to me. She taught me how to pick out the right info from the passage n how to phrase it in a proper way. There're some ques asking for ur own opinion... she taught me some 'common sense' like how would I respond if I were that person. Her style of teaching interest me in learning Chinese. I really hated chinese b4 she taught me.She is vry kind n patient, even with a student whom gives up easily n unwillingly to learn chinese like me. My sister is her student for 2 yrs as she only teach upper primary. True, if you find the right tutor or tuition centre, you will really excel. :imanangel: but MOST IMPORTANTLY, you must be able to work hard urself, n do not be defeated on the way to success。 “失败是成功之母” believe in urself, u will success!!

Pardon my ignorance  Is there such a thing as past PSLE papers that child can practise on? During my era (which is v long ago  ), there were those 10-year series for O levels and A levels...cannot recall for PSLE. Not sure about now...
