Victoria vs SJI for Secondary

He said he prefers SJI. Anyway, we've applied him for DSA (IP) at both schools. If he does not qualify, there's always the PSLE score route.
I think its impt to ask the boy which he prefers too, since his SA1 results are good, why dun you consider applying for DSA(Academic) into SJI too ?jonesy:
My son is currently at St. Stephen's School and obviously, we are keen on getting him at SJI. However, we live in Tanjong Katong/Haig Road area which is far from SJI. Therefore, we're also looking at VS as an alternative. He got A's in his SA1 results so we think he will be able to manage the COP of both schools (on a side note - should we also apply him at both school's IP?).
Anyway, assuming his PSLE scores qualifies him at SJI and VS, which should we choose? In this case, should school location/travel time be a major factor?
There are a couple of buses like 966 and 5 which uses PIE from Jalan Toa Payoh that goes to Jalan Eunos in 10 mins. Not sure if that helps.
Will check the bus routes but an SJI teacher said taking bus 48 from Marine Parade at 6:30 AM will bring the student to SJI around 7:15 AM. -

Thought of revisiting this topic for the sec school posting exercise, especially as we'll be moving to Bedok/Upper East Coast area next year so SJI will be farther from our current place.
My son's PSLE score is 255, which should easily qualify him at SJI (coming from an affiliated school). With SJI now having IP, he prefers this. For Victoria, last year's COP for Victoria was 252 (don't know about IP).
What are the chances of this selection: 1) SJI-IP; 2) VS-IP; 3) SJI; 4) VS? Or should SJI be 2nd choice? He wants to go to SJI but for us VS would be much more convenient for him..jonesy:

The IB diploma in SJI vs the Cambridge A-Level examinations in VJC, which one is your son more inclined towards? This should be another major aspect to consider.Thought of revisiting this topic for the sec school posting exercise, especially as we'll be moving to Bedok/Upper East Coast area next year so SJI will be farther from our current place.

To be frank he's more inclined on the school (SJI), rather than the IP itself. Guess either IB diploma or the A-level will work for him since he also applied on the DSA-IP for both schools. He didn't make it out of the last rounds but there may be a chance thru the PSLE route.

SJI will be my choice for my DS if he meets the cut off point for SJI. My DS also in an affiliated pri school. Regardless of distance, we will go for SJI. I know of someone whose son will be going to SJI in 2013 and they stay in the west. One of my relative’s son who finished his o levels already even said he will send his future son there …I hv also met some of the fathers of my DS’s friends who are old boys and they maintained strong ties with the school and their friends…DH said its something I will not understand (cos I am from SAP school) and he called it "brotherhood"…

which part of jurong ? perhaps try the mrt to buona vista, then change to circle line to botanic gardens followed lastly by a short bus ride (151, 153, 154, 156, 186) of a few bus stops to the raffles town club bus stop -

Another option : Bus 105 from JURONG EAST TEMP INT and alight at WHITLEY RD RAFFLES TOWN CLUB, and then walk to the school. Total travelling time about 64min, according to SBS Transit iris system.
Is your house near Bukit Panjang? There is a bus 700 from Bukit Panjang Int to Whitley Road, just after Tanglin CC. This bus, after passing Dairy Farm Road, will be travelling on the expressway. The first bus stop after the expressway will be the bus stop just after Tanglin CC. From the bus stop, you can walk to SJI.
