After reading the posts, I suddenly got worried that since SAP schools focus on Chinese, then, how about English? I would say that our family is more Chinese and my child is not very strong in English. Would the SAP school’s strong Chinese environment made our English worse? Can someone advise? Should we go to non-SAP instead? really confused!

Hi, my school is a SAP too, Maris Stella High. However, most of us in school speak English. Being in a Chinese Environment, there is a more "chinese" feeling to the school. However, one’s English would not be affected at all! Also, the only race in SAP schools are Chinese, with the exceptions of some Indians and Malays who take Chinese.

My girl is in NCH. Don’t worry about the English standard, we are in Singapore after all. My girl’s classmate often speaks in English, like any other kids in Singapore. They have more emphasis on appreciation of Chinese culture, and school building have 小桥流水, which I like. But I think their English standard is the same as other secondary schools. This is like Ai Tong or Tao Nan, emphasise more on Chinese culture, but English standard is still good.
Let me know if you have other concerns on NCH, and we can share our experience.

                      Hi,

I was told that there is 1 NA and 1NT class each in sec 3 next year. But yearbook indicate as Express only. Does it mean that they have stop accepting NA/NT for year 1 but continue with year 3/4/5? Please confirm - thanks

                        Hi sosomum

2012 is the first year that NCH became a SAP school, and with this change, they became express stream only. Thus, from the current Sec 1 onwards, there will only be express stream. So you are right that next year Sec 3 will continue to have normal stream, until they graduate.
