Is Dunman High the school you want most? If yes, I think you should be able to get in.

Like many already said, you should also consider the time for your child to commute to those choice schools and the desired programme (i.e. IP or IB). But I think you will eventually end up with DHS since 257+2 comfortably makes last year's COP, which means your concern with entry to NJC becomes secondary.

If NJC is your preference then just switch NJC with DHS. This change should not hurt your chances one bit.

                  oh dear...kitty2,
is your friend's dd from neighbourhood school? or she was not feeling well or brainblock on that day? physical and mental condition plays a very important part during such big exams.
who say dsa via academic does not make sense.... :nailbite:

Thanks for the advice, we will let my girl choose between the two school.

We are only concern that Dhs as 2nd choice might show that we are not sincere πŸ˜“

Learning Lab charges $1000 per subject per mth and they only accept students who come in the first 10% in their sch exams. my colleague's son was rejected as he was not from his school's top class.

err.. the free is not quite true la... S1000 per subject per term (NOT month la)la.

TLL fees are about $900 for a term, it depends on 11 or 12 lessons. It seems higher cos there's GST charged on top of the fees.
Not true you hv to be in top class of your school. There is an entrance exam if your grades are not high in your report book.
They may cater to the higher ability kids but there are kids who do not do that well despite attending classes there too. It really depends on the kids themselves. How much they can absorb.

                        sujatha:

My daughter who was a consistent performer since P1 and was always on school top 3 until p4 and top 1 in P5 only scored 252 + 2. She works so hard every year sacrificing even her play time and holidays. Her score was very shocking to all of us as we all surely expected her to score 260 + 2 and to be among school top 3 as many students this year worked extremely hard. It took us 3 days to recover from this shock and I keep consoling myself telling that I want to appeal. My daughter keeps telling she did her exams well. My dd's mother tongue is Tamil. I am a layman when it comes to T score calculation.

                        1. Will my dd's tamil t-score be affected if the bottom most ranked girl or boy scored quite low?.
                        2. Is there any use of appealing as someone here said that ' what if something opposite happens' ?.
Take a hold and take stock of yourself. 252+2 is not exactly a mediocre score. Before you contemplate further actions, you might want to compare her t-score with her classmates to ascertain if your expectation is justified. Try asking her teachers for their opinion. It is a hard thing to do though now that schools are closed. If your daughter's t-score is still among the top few (say 5%) in her school then there is no reason to have doubts.

It is better to take it at face value and move on. Pursue if your daughter feels very strongly that something is really amiss given her t-score relative to her peers, but be prepared for the inevitable and perhaps even more pain.
