I see many taking two instruments there

Yeah. But DD is not quite that talented. Not to mention that she strongly feels that she has other better things to do... like watching cartoons.

Hi!
I am 13 years old, going to be 14 years old next year... I want to start learning music (It is quite sad that I am not even grade 1 at this age) and I wonder what music school is suitable for me to start learning at this age. By the way, can i learn the practical exam and theory exam through the not-so-common instruments like dizi, clarinet or flute? (I saw this music school called the Ossia Music School. Is the school fee expensive? I cant find the cost of the courses in the website...) -

There are a growing numbers of people who pick up piano much later in life because of various reasons. That includes me who started at 17 years old and still made it in the end to finish full time study in music and become a full time teacher, so it is never too late.
If you like other instruments, all of them are examinable by ABRSM from grade 1-8 (except for chinese instruments such as dizi which is administered by a Chinese board). The only issue here will be locating a decent teacher for those instruments and they are not likely to be cheap. ABRSM theory can be of course taken even if your instrument is not piano, but the higher grade theories require some working knowledge of piano.
I am going to repeat what other have posted here before. It is generally recommended to start with a good teacher and stick with him/her all the way to completion of your grade 8. So if you are going to a music school, it is generally advisable to study with the owner so you are assured of the quality you are getting; and you don't have to deal with changing teachers (teachers in music schools are generally on one or two years contract). If fund is not an issue you should start with a good private teacher right away. -
Can anyone recommend a good piano teacher with proven track records, reasonable rates and is good with small kid says 5 yrs old (beginner level), preferably staying around east? Pls PM me the contact and details if you know of someone. Many thanks!

There's also Trinity and a couple of other exam boards. Can do Trinity Diploma Exam (ATCL) with no age or other prequisite exams/theory.

For Chinese Instruments, there are already 3 Examining Boards that administer exams in Singapore. All have Grades up to 9 and the Diploma. No need theory prerequisite. -

Only the ATCL and LTLC Recital can take without any prerequisites, although I don't think anyone will attempt any of these 2 exams without prior experiences in exams and performing. They are arguably the least robust diplomas as they only assess the performance aspect of learning an instrument.

Even Chinese instrumental exams' diploma requires Grade 9 as a prerequisite.

But I know of people who take grade 8 theory without any prior theory exam though. HAHA! -
Hi
Anybody know how much a SSO/NAFA teacher charge for 45 mins lesson?
Tks -
Uhm, just wanted to ask if any parents have daughters/sons that took up a second instrument while they are in secondary school?
I'm 13 right now, soon to be 14 next year, and I am currently learning the piano, taking Grade 7 Practical next year. However, I have taken up an interest, in fact, a passion in the cello and uh I did ask my parents about this and they disagreed as cellos and cello lessons were generally expensive and they were afraid that I won't be able to juggle my piano, school commitments, and a second instrument, which may result in me losing interest.
As for interest-wise, I'm fairly confident that I will not lose interest, and well, just wanted to ask for other parents' opinions, to check if I'm being too naive/rash?
(SORRY
I know this is off-topic but I can't find any other thread related ;____;)
