if SMRT is not sacking them, in my opinion, the mastermind of this strike must be punished more heavily.
Very interesting. Unions that rep the workers do not speak up for workers...oh, I forgot, the workers are not locals...and the Unions are in business of insurance, retail, ...
either too many portfolios and need to outsource...or else top management incompetent. to think that there is a strike happening here...this issue has to be settled and mete out necessary punishment to prevent another case like this from happening again.janet_lee88:
SBSTransit operates Buses and trains.. SMRT operate trains and buses..
SBStransit doesn't seems to have so much issues.. Why SMRT got so many problems with train service, buses service.. etc.. comparing the transport operators.. apparently.. their top management got problem. Their previous CEO really one kind..

My personal opinion is that SMRT shouldn’t increase the china worker salary request. If they comprehend to their request, it is like indirectly sending a wrong message that they are encouraging their staff to go for STRIKE if they are unhappy with anything. Mean only STRIKE can get what they want.
To me, the worker who lead the strike, has to be punished heavily and the rest must also have some form of punishment. To me this is unacceptable.
In future there will be Malaysian on strike. Singaporean on strike.
Never ending!!! No one will be satisfy with their salary and bonuses.
I have a friend who get 4 months bonuses every year, he still feel his bonus is very little.

The fella should be punished for brainwashing the others to go on strike. From the news this morn, understand they are going back to work but this episode should never have started...or it will happen again. Those China drivers think they are living in a lawless society? :mad:My personal opinion is that SMRT shouldn't increase the china worker salary request. The Republic of China Embassy in Singapore has swiftly appealed to their SG counterpart to \"protect\" their workers interest.

They are not afraid to fight for their rights. I respect that. They are from a different background who have not learnt to accept the Singapore way of doing things. They may not be aware of the cost of living here before they come. But once here, they have to live here, eat here, and face the same inflation we face. If even foreign workers find this hard, what about the rest of us who have lost our jobs and have to accept odd jobs or go self-employed (without the glamour of those big bosses), unemployed, or to accept a lower-paying job or be a SAHM and continue to hope our future can be brighter?

What is meant by illegal strike? Which strike is legal in Singapore?
I hope they find a resolution to this soon so that transport can go on smoothly for everyone. -

Strikes are legal in singapore. in this case, sufficient notice was not given to the employer before the employees decided to go on strike.
