Hi
Is warm light harmful and will it worsen myopia?
:scratchhead: -
Hi
My DD’s power increased by 100 in 9 months (for right eye). Now 325.
Anyone bought myovision lens (for yr kids) recently? How much does it cost? Or the range?
Does this lens really help?
Thank you in advance. -

I doubt if it is harmful, but sunlight has proven to be beneficial in preventing myopia, so I try my best to get my daughter outside for a couple of hours a day.Hi

She sometimes does her homework outside while I read a book to keep her company. If you can find the time to do that it can be very special.
Now they are building a new condo next door, and the noise has driven us to nearby McRitchie Park. -

Here are some quotes I dug up:
\"The lens was tested as part of a two-year trial, which started in 2007 and involved 800 myopic children - 700 from China and 100 from Australia - aged six to 14 years.\"
and...
\"The lens, called MyoVision, has been shown in a study to slow the progression of myopia in children aged six to 12 years by 30 per cent on average.
For example, this means that a child who wears spectacles with the lenses will have his degree of myopia increase by 35 degrees in a year, instead of by 50 degrees for children wearing spectacles with normal lenses.\"
The only bit I am worried about is the lack of independent trials. It's not such a good idea to trust the results of trials organised by the company who is marketing them.
Still worth looking into more tho... -

Eyesight isn't something that is constant and consistent like a piece of glass/plastic lens. It fluctuates because humans are living things, just like our attention span and ability to focus which tend to vary. It is not always optimal. Even for people who have 'perfect eyesight', it is not so throughout the day, and not so everyday of the year.
I doubt if it is harmful, but sunlight has proven to be beneficial in preventing myopia, so I try my best to get my daughter outside for a couple of hours a day.mummy_goh:

In a research I have read (sorry it was some time ago, so I can't recall which), students eyesight is poorer in winter and get better during summer. It could be the absorbency of the necessary vitamins that sunlight gives, or, like in a brighter room you see clearer, it could be the amount of light that clears up your vision.
