      Miracle Child:

Pardon my ignorance  Is there such a thing as past PSLE papers that child can practise on? During my era (which is v long ago  ), there were those 10-year series for O levels and A levels...cannot recall for PSLE. Not sure about now...

Yes, they have the 5 years series. It should be out in late Jan or early Feb.

Thanks, elderflowertea. Where can we buy these? Thanks.

You can find the past year Psle papers being sold by vendors or even find them free to download online.

Try to access the orlesson website. They allow free downloading. You can print what you want n let ur kid practice.

Good luck to u and ur kid šŸ™‚

Thanks, mother777. Do you have the website address? Cannot locate the page for psle papers...keep getting only the schools' exam papers only. Thanks.

          Hi all,

just to share with all of you, PSLE really nid a lot of chionging to take place. But there r still strategies šŸ˜‰ As I'd shared b4, I am not tat kind of pro students at the start of psle yr but I made it to DHS afterall. šŸ˜„ Maybe some of the parents might think that psle requires a lot of chionging of assessment bks n past yr papers+ tuition classes for every subject almost everyday+private tutors... n end up ur child getting poorer results in every test 😢 U r so fed up, thinking tat ur child didnt concentrate in every session of tuition lessons n guess his/her way through all assessment bks n papers... U scolded him/her, he/she is so demoralized n ended up giving up at the every last min of psle. D': On the day of result releasing, ur child had 'proven' him/herself 'not working hard enough', but the worst part is he/she told u that he/she expected tat long ago. Not shedding any tears, not hiding his/her poor results from any kiasu friends whom asked him/her. You had enough of ur child, leaving the sch hall asap, went home n u know wats gonna happen(disappointment). How sad is tis? N the truth is: ur child is overstressed.
This is not just a story, but my friend's experience. It's real n many children experience tis. I didnt cuz my parents didnt force me to study, I did it myself. From choosing assessment bks myself to clearing my doubts myself n fight till the vry last min. You may say \"My child wont work hard if I dont ask him/her to work hard.\" Then go ahead n remind him or her to do the required amt of assessment bks n past yr papers! But bear in mind, required amt. For me, I did my hw first n then complete at least 2 pgs of eng assessment bks, two ws in the sci assessment bk(10mcq+3-5Q of Short-Ans-Ques), Two math ques(paper 2), 1pg of normal cl mcq n 1 ex each of hcl section A(cant remember but is the ones b4 compre). And I nvr fail to complete tat required amt everyday. I only had cl tuition(as mentioned b4) in P6. (sat n sun I did more: compre, compo n past yr papers)
Term 3 started. I bought the psle sci(green colour), math(pink), eng(blue), cl (purple)handy ę‰‹å†Œ the vry small bk n brought that to sch everyday to read. Cher say \"take out ur storybk\" I covered tat with my storybk n read it. I sacrificed my recess time to read tat instead of playing captains ball with my friends after eating. Still, I did the same amt of required work. N my SA1 reults improved a lot(30 marks? if not wrg).
My prelim results improved from SA1 by 10 marks. 3 wks b4 psle, cher start to giv so much prac papers tuition cher also giv more hw, I dont hav time to complete tat required amt of work! But stayed till midnight or maybe latest 1am to complete those. In sch after completing class work, unlock lockers n start doing that required amt of work. Put some in lockers, more convenient. One wk b4 psle, I stopped my chionging. But clarified those doubts I havent done so. Cher stopped giving prac papers, it's revision time!! But, I used my time writing essays looking out for where to add in creative phrases n how to organise my para n reading storybks but finding out the meanings of chim vocabs(those two r my hobbies). I slept as early as possible(my mum started buying chicken essence). It's the time to make sure I was healthy. šŸ™‚ Then PSLE finally came, I did all ques as per normal n went home earlier than normal. I didnt chiong next subject but facebooking n playing online games(to release stress). PSLE past n hurray~ Freedom!!
Moral of story, work hard but dont overstress:) Next time I will share about those strategy in excelling in certain part of each subject. Sry for the long post:P Good night~

Hi I'm new to this site and forum. For parents whose children have gone thru PSLE, what would be the one take away you can share from the experience that most benefitted or helped your children to cope and do well for the exam.

My son is an average student (scored 2Bs & 2Cs) for P5 exams. How can I best make use of this school hols to better prepare him for P6 & the big exam? Some have advised to let him start practising past year exam papers, but will that cause a burn out too early?
My child sat for his PSLE this year and scored 252. Initially he was playful and lazy but towards the end he gave his best. Personally I find that it has to be a balance of both world. Study and play.Too much of work alone will kill the childs interest towards the end. Intensive programmes helped a great deal especially after the prelims. I printed past year papers from year 2009 and he was exposed to many different kind of challenging questions especially maths. For composition, reading a compo everyday helped him to have a better idea in terms of vocab, pharases and story line. Hope my sharing will help you in one way or another. šŸ˜„
