Stadious Alien, thanks for your advise.
I hope she can get into Cedar and hopefully to VJC thereafter. So, for the next 2 to 3 years, while she needs to study hard and I will have to pray very hard too :).... -

Thanks for assuring..I had seen those Olympiad maths questions in those Olympiad books found in Popular..I dun think my gal will ever do those..she has her plate full with heuristic kinda questions. I did advise her that if she came across those \"non-routine\" maths questions and if she does not know how to do..skip them and focus on other routine questions..dun waste time getting those 10 marks at the expense of the remaining 80+ marks..
There is no Math Olympiad questions but there are 2 non routine questions. This year paper is about the same standard as past 2 years.
My kid did the psle too and it is not true that there are Olympiad maths questions. The last question which is usually the most difficult question ( I could be wrong) is on area.acforfamily:

Really ah..die..I never expose those Olympiad Maths to my kids and neither does the school. I trust the schools to teach whatever needed to score in exam incl PSLE. If that is the case, does that mean I shd start researching on such courses?
Please do not scare yourself or your child. I am a strong advocate that if a child is not strong in Maths, please do not \"torture\" them with Olym Maths questions. Let them learn at their own pace. -
DD got 4A, 241+2, unexpected low score, (prelim 260+ in neighborhood school) very hard to accept the result & I’d tried very hard to hide my disappointment when facing her… But failed…
Then I decided to pay for the review of 3 subjects. I know the chance is slim, but maybe it’s the only way to convince myself in fact my dd was underperformanced in psle. Whatever the result will be, I will just go with it.
Anyway our 6 choices are
1)AHS
2)Crescent girls
3)TKGS
4)CCH Main
5)TKSS
6)Temasek Sec
Fingers crossed. -

Rains, do you happen to have percentage of quality passes (A/A*) for NYPS 2012? Do you know 2011 average?
Is it true that 50% of NYPS kids are in the top 10% of the PSLE cohort? If it is true, then not all schools are equally good. Wonder how many % of them go to normal stream?
I'm quite keen to know where the source of the hearsay comes from. The school didn't reveal the number of students scoring 240 and above. Unless it's a teacher from Nyps who says it, I'm not going to believe it. The school's average t-score is 239. If 87% scored 240 and above, the average should be higher than 239, I thought.rains:

hearsay that this year got 40% scoring between 240 to 249
so got 87.7% scoring from 240 or higher ! now which school comes close this this ? -
how did MGS perform this year ?

Vanilla Cake:
Thanks VC mum. that is impressive, even though NYGH has four GEP classes, that is remarkable!rains:
No. NY didn't reveal the % scoring 240 and above. Do you have the stats? But in any case, I am more concerned about 250 and above which suits me fine.
NY's students scoring 250 and above
2012 - 47.7 %
2011 - 45.9 %
2010 - 43.2 %
2009 - 42.7 %
2008 - 44.4 %

:goodpost:across all schools in SG -
from P6 entering into Secondary 1:-
IP programme never affliated.
only those with high score(s) get in.
but O level track can be affliated, in some schools.
from end of Sec 2 Express stream trying to seek transfer into Sec 3 IP -
can try.
But note that local Singaporeans will be competing with overseas Asean scholars, for limited Sec 3 IP places. -
Yanchong:
seems that in view of the uncertainty of the new 2017 JC (SNGS,SCGS, CHS) -
In view of that, maybe should just let it be and hope she can join the IP of Cedar in Secondary 3 as it will be linked to VJC. As for St Nic, the JC is still unknown.
can feel that parents hesitate, instead divert their children Sec 1 selection attention towards NJC, Cedar, etc.
need a few years from pioneering batch performance, to prove the A level standard of this new JC. The pioneering batch has a chip upon their shoulder.
