      phtthp:
across all schools in SG -

from P6 entering into Secondary 1:-
      IP programme never affliated.
only those with high score(s) get in.

but O level track can be affliated, in some schools.

from end of Sec 2 Express stream trying to seek transfer into Sec 3 IP -
      can try.
But note that local Singaporeans will be competing with overseas Asean scholars, for limited Sec 3 IP places.
One IP has affiliation - NYGH.
NYPS girls with 250 and above can enter its IP program via affiliation route.
Thus the S1 seats are always more limited.

Other IPs with affiliated pri school but no discount for affiliation into IP track include: ACSI, SJI, St Nics, SCGS, MGS, CHS etc.

That's life isn't it. No one can predict future. Prelims score is just an indicator on how the kids would perform. Many factors could have contributed to better or poorer psle score. Most importantly is not to be complacent. The primary school plays a part too. Many elite primary schools set very difficult prelim questions resulting in the kids scoring low for prelims. Some kids worked harder to get better psle score while some got discouraged n did worst off. Fyi, my dd did really badly for prelims but scouted>\t60 additional points more psle.

Move on. Dun discourage the poor child. Secondary school is not going to get easier. Your child need to reload their energy for next battle in life. :rahrah: :grphug:

            why NYGH special treatment ?
why NYPS girls given special privilege to enter IP track, minimal 250 ?

why MOE don't make NYPS girls follow rules and order -
ie. No discount for any affliation into IP track.
ie. make NYPS girls follow the same set of rules and regulation as
ACSI, SJI, St Nics, SCGS, MGS, CHS IP.

It doesn't make sense to make any exception to any school.
Once you make exception to One school, parents will come after and query - why not another school ?
if want to standardize, should standardize fair and square - across the board, for ALL schools.

What about HCI? Do the boys from NYPS also have affiliation to enter at 250?

                No.
NYPS boys No affliation at all, into Hwa Chong Institute Sec 1.

only NYPS girls have, boys No.

Yes, Janet, I was fooled into thinking that psle is easier than prelims, I was very wrong.. Dd even did Top sch paper math TWICE, trying to familiarize with the questions and hopefully benchmark herself with the top peers, she could score 75above, but not psle math. Now that I have another dd taking psle two years later, I really don't know what to expect. Years ago, when hb thought a girl just using the math456.com math assessment bk, she could score an A*. Now his one daughter can't even score an A. Sigh..
I don't know if it helps. Both my kids did OnSponge maths in school for P5 & P6. This is in addition to the regular workbook and school worksheets. Both of them managed an A* and A respectively. My girl was not very strong in Maths in lower primary but she said what she learned fm OnSponge helped her quite a bit in PSLE.

                        Donno lah.. 🤷
But thinking logically, NYGH is among one of the first schools with affiliation to start IP. So naturally it may wish to give their affiliated girls the same privilege to IP route. Further the earlier phase 1 IP is meant for top 10% so COP 250 looks logical for affiliated girls.

However down the road other Sec schs with affiliation also started IP but with dual tracks eg ACSI. The newer IPs with affiliated pri schs thus must have reviewed the pros and cons.

That's no right or wrong I suppose. NYGH 250 is not an easy mark to meet anyway for affiliated girls. Meanwhile the dual track IPs have small IP cohorts while taking in many affiliated kids in their O levels track.
