PSLE 2012 - Results Discussion

phtthp:
there is affiliation for IPacross all schools in SG -
from P6 entering into Secondary 1:-
IP programme never affliated.
only those with high score(s) get in.
but O level track can be affliated, in some schools.
from end of Sec 2 Express stream trying to seek transfer into Sec 3 IP -
can try.
But note that local Singaporeans will be competing with overseas Asean scholars, for limited Sec 3 IP places.
for NYGH, if the NYPS girls get 247+3 or 248+2 or 249+1, or 250+0 or higher they are assured of a place in NYGH if they place NYGH first choice even when their COP has been 26+ -

The lowest score is 43. So is he or she consider \"it's the end\"!!!?
It's the end only if he/she gives up trying. There's still Northlight school for those who need a different curriculum. -

Rains, do you happen to have percentage of quality passes (A/A*) for NYPS 2012? Do you know 2011 average?[/quote]% that secure DSA offers 30+% (GEPpers only 20+%)
I'm quite keen to know where the source of the hearsay comes from. The school didn't reveal the number of students scoring 240 and above. Unless it's a teacher from Nyps who says it, I'm not going to believe it. The school's average t-score is 239. If 87% scored 240 and above, the average should be higher than 239, I thought.rains:

hearsay that this year got 40% scoring between 240 to 249
so got 87.7% scoring from 240 or higher ! now which school comes close this this ?
A+A* for :
math = 81+%
sci = 84+%
eng = 87+%
CL = 96+%
HCL distinction = 23%
HCL passes = 97%
the above is the average for recent years -

No, I think the child wasn't ready...maybe re-doing psle could be better. It's not the end. He/she needs more time. After seeing how hard our kids studied and some didn't get expected results, we have to understand kids. -
phtthp:
all IP requires min 250
why NYGH special treatment ?Snow Crystal:
One IP has affiliation - NYGH.
NYPS girls with 250 and above can enter its IP program via affiliation route.
Thus the S1 seats are always more limited.
Other IPs with affiliated pri school but no discount for affiliation into IP track include: ACSI, SJI, St Nics, SCGS, MGS, CHS etc.
why NYPS girls given special privilege to enter IP track, minimal 250 ?
why MOE don't make NYPS girls follow rules and order -
ie. No discount for any affliation into IP track.
ie. make NYPS girls follow the same set of rules and regulation as
ACSI, SJI, St Nics, SCGS, MGS, CHS IP.
It doesn't make sense to make any exception to any school.
Once you make exception to One school, parents will come after and query - why not another school ?
if want to standardize, should standardize fair and square - across the board, for ALL schools.
nothing special for NYGH/NYPS
250 is the minimum for IP -
pecalis:
What about HCI? Do the boys from NYPS also have affiliation to enter at 250?
No -
mummy so kiasu:
is 47%, not 50%
Is it true that 50% of NYPS kids are in the top 10% of the PSLE cohort? If it is true, then not all schools are equally good. Wonder how many % of them go to normal stream?
zero goes to normal stream -
bupashu:
Including the foundation kids? Wow..No wonder HSK has difficulties convincing parents that \"All schools are good schools.\"

If I was he or she I would not think that it is the end as long as I have tried my best
And if I heard that it was my friend I would give him or her a big :snuggles: and will not ask for confirmation of result as a form of respect :imanangel:
