Do they need to sit for exams in term 1? One of my friends told me that it is very common for the kids to fail 1 or 2 subjects out of the 8 subjects. Not easy for average kids to handle so many subjects. Any comment?
Btw, Anyone know Catholic High is using which book for literature? Thanks.

Any idea which is/are the subject(s) with the higher probability of failure? I know a couple of kids who fail Geography - only subject that they fail.

There are exams in Sec 1. My aunt told me to be prepared for son to fail at the beginning. Get a CCA..done and over with that day. History, Math, Geography, Lit, English, Chinese...these are toughER.
This holiday, I bought cloze assessment book to keep his brain working. Just started Chinese tuition today. -
Yes, CCA like track n field, NPCC or NCC can take up lots of time. Heard some even needs to stay back 2 to 3 times a week.

But there is a 2-point deduction for active CCA participation and participation in the more sedate CCA will not earn sufficient points to get the 2-point deduction.
Am starting English tuition tomorrow. Bought some supplementary guides and inherited relative’s texts and notes to go through. About time to re-start the engine after so many weeks of hiatus and play. -

Those Saturdays for marching, music, after school track and field practice and choir are out.
Starting Chinese tuition today, Math tuition end of Dec. English already started 1 month ago. These 3 tuition will stay...the rest he manages himself as much as possible, or else ask teacher or hubby. -

Was so glad when DS was in P5 and I managed to find all the right tutors for him, feeling assured he was in very good hands. Now after crossing the PSLE bridge, got to source around for good secondary tutors for him again, maybe trial and error for some time before hitting the jackpot..

Am only having tuition for English, rest of subjects, will want her to try on her own first though. Would like to see where she stands when she has to do it on her own.

Yes, not active participation will not be able to earn enough pts for A1/2 for the 4 yrs...
The CCA points will be converted to a grade where it is used as bonus points for JCs/ poly admissions.
Even in my gal's IP sch where she doesnt need it for JC's admission,
the CCA pts will be used as bonus pts for their GPA computation....
Please read more abt the LEAPS grading system illustrated by one of the sch website or Moe website.....
L - Leadership
E - Enrichment
A - Achievement
P - Participation
S - Service ( for this, one will requires total of 100 CIP hrs in order to obtain a max pt of 5 pts)
