Yutan:
Actually I put dd1 in holiday program for Math twice and found it to be a total waste of money. The first time I found out that the answer provided by teacher was totally incorrect :yikes: Decided that best that I teach her myself.
I want to give up for long (since p2... ).. But still hold on.. P5 math is really no jokes. The fraction part is really tough (for me) :slapshead:
Mummies Lego and Trina,
May I know the math assessment u are using ? Tia
I don't rely much on Math assessment book. Just one to reinforce the concept but no specific publisher. This year I use My Pals is here! Extra practice with revision notes.
Mainly practise using past years exam papers which I find is a better gauge of questions that come out during actual exams. -

To maintain your credibility and trustworthiness, think better to get her one. But set the boundaries. Can keep the iTunes password a secret if you don't want her to download games without your supervision.I have already promised my dd1 that i will get her a smart phone if she hit her target of scoring >75 in her recent SA2 , which , i m now very much i regretted
she has been gently \"reminding\" me and \"patiently'\" waiting\" for me to get her 1 after getting my bonus :nailbite:
i dont want to break my promise and break her heart, what should i do? :?:
My gal has her personal iTouch and iPhone3S as well as free access to my iPads. But she is not really into computer games. Doesn't access any of them daily. Sometimes play games on iPad but for less than an hour each time. To her, the iPhone is just for calling mum/dad after CCA. Can't download apps cos we didn't register her account in iTunes. -

Snowball,
All Apple gadgets need to have a registered account in iTunes before can download apps. Not sure about androids phone though. Depends on which smartphone you are getting but am sure there's password to download apps.
Not sure if i can help cos hubby is the IT guy in the family. I have never register any of my Apple product before. -
I also promised dd1 she is next in line to my iPhone, when I get the pass down windows phone from hubby. After attending the talk, immediately explained to dd1 why we have to retract that promise. It’s not only the games. Even if didn’t subscribe data plan, with free wifi everywhere, it’s hard to monitor internet access.
She is agreeable to our decision, no fuss. I think she knows herself well too, confirmed get addicted & time management is hardly her greatest strength so better don’t create trouble for herself -
the reasons why kids want smartphone are
1. peer pressure
2. games
if they can overcome the above then there is no difference even they use a Nokia candy bar phone (which cost less than $100 from 7-11) for just calling purpose and the battery can last at least a few days…
anyway i still think no smartphone for kids is the best…
1. won’t damage their eyesight
2. won’t waste too much playing games -
I gave my dd a smartphone when she did well for her P3 exam, but it is without the data plan.
And so far i have no problem with her having a smartphone.Any download or installation will be done by my DH. -

My kid is not ready for all this type of phone. We gave him and spent most of the time playing. So we gave normal phone bought in 7-11 type.
This phone is for him to contact us after or before tuition. Usually he will travel himself to United Sq and nearby vicinity for his tuitions. -
yes, every child is different… some mature earlier and some later… so there is no one fix formula in bringing up a child…
