CEO was in US right? Anyway, although his presence is impt, I'm sure this organisation has well paid and qualified HR and PR to look into these immediately and try rectify the situation.

Chinese saying something like ice don't form in a day. I can't imagine the drivers waking up one day and decide to go on strike. Their dissatisfaction could have been festering for sometime.

Sorry but I think the HR dept has got a lot of things to explain. More so than the new CEO.
Can use video conferencing? Got laptop?

Wow, that is so good. What don't SMRT management view it?

Not useful. Management will just say that the problem started because the monkey on the right was able to see that the other monkey was getting better benefits. So the solution is simply to make it a rule for everyone not to divulge their increments... and grades.

These PRC drivers if they are working in their own country, the accomodation is far worst than current Woodland dorm.

SMRT should not listen to them. Just give them as per it is. Take it or leave it.

These drivers are the about in their 30s, that is the first generation of one child policy product. How do you know some of them are not from well off family? The gap between rich and poor is great, however, some of them just go overseas for experience, not merely pay.

And oh.. she's also serious. Didn't even flinch when the monkey on the left went a wee berserk. I might have gone :rotflmao: there and then. Oh well, that's why I'm no scientist. šŸ˜†

Ya boy! Wonder if the monkey breaks out, it'll go for her or the grapes!!

Ya boi! Tough question... Go for her or go for her grapes... :scratchhead: Hmmm?

Been to a PRC home recently? Unless the idea is to employ PRC drivers from really ulu parts of rural China, the image in your mind of the PRC home is seriously obsolete.

One thing for sure - when u have different nationalities of drastic differences in background & culture doing the same job at the same place - you need very savvy HR people to communicate and balance the expectations in an internet linked world, you need to act fairly and to be seen to act fairly

Same job.. same pay.. what is so difficult.

As for the additional costs for the PRC, just deduct from the salaries.. everything hence is transparent and self explanatory.. why create an opportunity for troublemakers to cook up a storm..?

Good point. Now it seems to be the only excuse/explanation for the salary disparity from SMRT. But that is is misleading because it does not explain the difference in bonus neither the salary increment. The latest SMRT CEO's address to PRC drivers does not tell the truth.
