My girls were puzzled too... why cannot say. Is it supposed to be a secret? :rotflmao: I shared that the minister supposedly shared it is to reduce stress from this supposedly bad exam with the four letter that children have to take at 12 years young. DD2 replied. \"Stress?\" \"Who is stressed about the scores? You mean the minister?\"

      :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

Ironically, if the names had been published, most of us would have forgotten who they are by now and moved on. So now, how not to be stressed? Not me har. I mean the Min.... erhm... somebody at MOE. šŸ˜‰

So now the HOT question is \"Stress?\" \"Who is stressed about the scores? You mean the minister?\" or someone else? Perhaps the stressed one are those who think that you might not :grphug: them upon seeing the hoard of top scorer's background and upbringing that brought about their advantage and ability to be top scorers and ask if their numbers would increase further as our population increase further? Of course there are always success stories of people rising above their humble backgrounds but these are still minorities. A good education still provides a higher probability of securing a better future and moving up the social ladder. Which parents want their kids to be deprived of a good education and ending up eating grass or hypno-shrooms when they grow up? :scared:

Yes definitely stressful for many different parties as I believe there are wide implications on various national policies. šŸ¦†

Too much of anything (including ksp-ing hor!) is bad, so moderation is key. The biggest key actually because life can be good if we are less anal abt the nitty gritties. blah, blah, blah......

This is not call eng... it's call local talent but missed opportunities when they were young. Clearly her linguistic ability is far better than a lot of direct entries into IP programs. :salute:

What I want to state is MOE made the right move to stop naming top pupils, especially for secondary schools.

In my view, most of them are Chinese scholars whom the principals handpicked from China. :rahrah: If you checked the top schools who have taken in these pupils, these scholars enjoy much privileges and publicity in schools because they are the cream of the crops to bring in fame and honour.
Hopefully they don't leave like the badminton aces after being nurtured by our 'big-small eyes' teachers. :spank:
Now we have the issue of population expansion and thus foreign talents expansion. No doubt many of these foreign pupils are going to be the future bosses of our local kids. :nailbite:
MOE has better 'hide' them to reduce the sentiments among us parents. :censored:
                Agree or not agree?

Then how do you explain they stop publishing general performance of each school? That is what most people would like to know.

If you are saying that we should hide the fact that the Chinese scholars are better than the best of our home-grown scholars, then I think that really would be placing blinders on ourselves to hide us from bad news rather than to acknowledge reality and think of solutions to counter the situation.

Zheng, you are foreigner right ? You so sure all these young scholars will become bosses of Singaporeans in the future ? Nothing is guaranteed. Don't be so stuck up first. May be everyone of them turn out to be Sun Xu.
