Hi
If you can sum up your childβs first year in formal education in one word, what would it be? What would you have done differently? -

One word oni arh?Hi

Smooth.
The transition from 3 hour kindy to 6 hour day was uneventful. She loved her teacher and her friends. The curriculum was manageable and fun. I am really thankful for all blessings great and small! -

Things r getting more and more expensive these days. I dun rem paying so much for uniforms during my time.CayennePepper:
I probably bought too many! 10 pieces in all.
10 pieces ??? :scared:
I don't recall spending so to get much, yet get DD2 uniforms yet. It is $32 (i think) for a set of pinafore and blouse. PE T-shirt is $18, they last but it is DD1 who messes it up with art paint and milo :faint: :faint: :faint: :faint: :faint: -

UnderestimateHi

I underestimated my dd1's ability to manage P1 socially and academically. Don't need to worry so much.
Don't buy so many assessment bks, unless the child can complete the books very quickly or the parent is very disciplined or both :rotflmao:
I think 1-2 bks for each subject is fine. Becos I'm too lazy and dd1 takes too long to complete
Past yr exam papers is the short cut to revise for tests/exams
No such thing as no test :rotflmao: at the end of the yr or some even as early as mid yr will rec a report bk. plus if top 25% in your school, will rec a cert from your MP, so cannot be no test one for P1 :rotflmao:  If you don't care for such affirmation then enjoy the honeymoon period. Heehee
S&D came in handy for my dd1 during show and tell. We speak Mandarin at home so I'm glad she had a wonderful teacher for S&D when she was in kindy.
Most important lesson, trs make a great difference. The child knows what are the attributes of a good tr. Praise the good trs by writing email to compliment them. I'm not sure abt the medicore one though.......I'm too soft-hearted to complain abt the tr and no harm is really done. I just keep an eye on that subject
Lastly, who would have guessed that penmanship is important. Hahaha. But it is. -

Exhilarating!Hi

It was an exciting and mentally stimulating year for DD1 which she enjoyed rather than despise.
Wasn't just about academics but rather to work as a team or groups. Feeling the pinch when she can't get the Fun CCA which she wants, learning to let go. Managing her time so that she does her homework in school rather than home so she has more rest time.

I always stress over her forgetfulness, she often forgot to submit her homework, forgot to bring home her water bottles, forgot her planner....
her pouch,, even forgot to bring back her uniform.
so stress up !
Back fm holiday from Korea..superb cold here.. can see snowflake in Nov.

For me... Relaxing.Hi

I don't think I'd do anything differently. My dd has enjoyed herself tremendously in a lovely, encouraging school environment. She's happy; I'm happy.
