1 more ballot chance during 2010 P1 registration for citizen

Whether yr chance as SC increase significantly depend on the number of PR coming forward to take part in the balloting. Eg. if there are 5 PR 1 SC, with the extra slip, do you think your chance is better than 5 PR? In another case, if PR all stay within 1km and you as SC stay between 1 to 2 km, and only within 1km need ballot than your extra slip wont work.

I think this system would be a little help.Sooner the PR's would quickly take up SC then they also have 2 tickets in the baloting.

My impression is that it's not that difficult to become a SC. A friend who has been a PR for years is applying to be a SC for the sake of her daughters. To get subsidy in pre-school and for primary registration.

so the child must become a SC or juz one of parents to be SC? Heard of many instances tat one spouse become SC juz to enjoy the benefits and the other to retain their own country's citizenship.

Also heard that both parents became SC in order to buy HDB flat and enjoy and first timer grant, as well as whatever angbao or Misc fee garman issue to SC. The children continue to be PR usually are boys so that they have a choice not to do NS.

If the parent converted to SC and the kids remain as PR, no benefit will be granted to the kids. S'pore government needs children not the adults.

If both parents become SC and kid remain as PR, the second generation (mean the kid) will also need to serve NS. This policy is apply either the parents convert or not convert.

Same thing.... I had heard most of the PR applied for SC (only one of the parents) to gain the benefits. Is it true that one of them is a SC will do? With that they can gain child care subsidy, SC sch fee etc?? If yes, does it sound that they are still having both worlds?? sigh.... :stupid:

This is not really true. The kid must also converted to SC, otherwise the above mentioned benefits are not entitled to them. This is also apply for the tax relief

I totally agreed with this idea. They should exclude PRs from 2B and 2C to give real banefits to citizen.

Agreed. It is one thing to be angry with the government, but another to make such accusation. If you could substantiate your claim with evidence, what you said would garner more support.
