Hi, in my opinion. 3% is very minimum. My tutor was from recommendation too. Before i hired her, she gurantee improvement in grammar section within 10 lessons and now my dd scores full marks for all grammar question. I think you should seriously think of changing.

Chinese is the easiest to score in psle. must make sure your dd gets A.
Hi thanks for your advice. Do you have any recommendations for Chinese tutor?

In primary school I used to go to Han Language Centre. They're quite good if you pay attention in class. I didn't

Private tutor works better, his EL has improved by 10% after private tutoring. The chinese tuition started at the same time but did not see such results so I wondered is it because the tutor is not effective.

Cannot expect to see instant results.. Haha, for me I aim for Chinese has always been to just pass. So my O level chinese B3 I happy already. Thank goodness in JC also don't need to use it in calculation of university admission score.

So cannot ignore at this moment.

Just to add on, on the 1st lesson, I highlighted to the tutor tt DS is weak in his compo & compre. After she looked thru his papers, she advised that his Section A is oso weak. So she has been doing lots of 词语。
Her reason is once the vocab is improved, understanding the compre passage will improve, so compre will improve. Same to compo, know more words, can write better compo. She promised (or is confident) that with her teaching, DS section A can get full marks.

Hwr, after few months DS did not manage to pass his HCL overall, only managed a just pass for SA2. CL was still under 70%. She only covered compo and oral when near to exams. She came for a few lessons in Nov/Dec but did not leave any compre/compo homework for them. Only asked them to 习字 or do past exam papers.

I dunno, comparing her to the EL tutor, the EL tutor cover every section of the EL papers, including compo & oral in advance.

Can anyone advise with your experience? Most importantly, if u have a good CL tutor to recommend, pls PM me. Prefer tutor to come to my place in the central area.

                TIA!

A tutor should cover everything…why else would I engage her/his services if I still have to look for another one? I strongly believe in word of mouth…if I hear recommendation from a person’s mouth directly, I will buy it.

For languages, the tutor has to cover everything…from oral to listening comprehension, compo and paper 2.

Yes. I agree that the tutor should cover everything.

But as for tuition centre, I think it depends on which centre you go to. Some centres are just not for certain kids. I enrolled my kids into the centre that my friends recommended me. Which is by word of mouth. Safer too, I also will check if they have a website to see the testimonials and results of their kids. Then follow by going down to the centre to take a look. Only then will i decide if i want to go ahead.

As of now, my kids are very happy with their current teacher at the tuition centre that I sent them to through word of mouth.

Normally tutor/centres will cover all areas. For mine, they cover 2 compo & verbal skills per month. Mini tests every month. Keep them in check!

Mine too. When my boys come back home, they will always say \" Mummy, listen listen, let me read to you, I need to practice\". because their tutor asked them to practice at home and if they read well when tested the next lesson, they get to earn points.
