      Hi

Is warm light harmful and will it worsen myopia?
      :scratchhead:

I doubt if it is harmful, but sunlight has proven to be beneficial in preventing myopia, so I try my best to get my daughter outside for a couple of hours a day.
She sometimes does her homework outside while I read a book to keep her company. If you can find the time to do that it can be very special.
Now they are building a new condo next door, and the noise has driven us to nearby McRitchie Park.

Eyesight isn't something that is constant and consistent like a piece of glass/plastic lens. It fluctuates because humans are living things, just like our attention span and ability to focus which tend to vary. It is not always optimal. Even for people who have 'perfect eyesight', it is not so throughout the day, and not so everyday of the year.

In a research I have read (sorry it was some time ago, so I can't recall which), students eyesight is poorer in winter and get better during summer. It could be the absorbency of the necessary vitamins that sunlight gives, or, like in a brighter room you see clearer, it could be the amount of light that clears up your vision.

        Hi

My DD's power increased by 100 in 9 months (for right eye). Now 325.

Anyone bought myovision lens (for yr kids) recently? How much does it cost? Or the range?

        Does this lens really help?

        Thank you in advance.

This is really interesting, I haven't heard of it before.
Here are some quotes I dug up:
\"The lens was tested as part of a two-year trial, which started in 2007 and involved 800 myopic children - 700 from China and 100 from Australia - aged six to 14 years.\"
        and...
\"The lens, called MyoVision, has been shown in a study to slow the progression of myopia in children aged six to 12 years by 30 per cent on average.

For example, this means that a child who wears spectacles with the lenses will have his degree of myopia increase by 35 degrees in a year, instead of by 50 degrees for children wearing spectacles with normal lenses.\"
The only bit I am worried about is the lack of independent trials. It's not such a good idea to trust the results of trials organised by the company who is marketing them.
Still worth looking into more tho...

        Thank you

          Hi all

I was just reading one of the Singapore National Eye Centre's Specialist's answers to some people's questions on their kids' eyesight. Pretty good I thought. Surprisingly quite detailed and comprehensive.
You might want to have a look.

HI all, my boy is slight myopic. I bought him a pair of pinhole glasses in April 2012 and he wears it in school every time the white board is used. He also wears it to play computer games. So far, so good. No more complain about headaches and dizziness.

Plus good eye habits and exposure to the sunlight and green trees, the eye will re-adjust itself to perfection as the eye itself is a muscle.

This article may be of interest. It's on Perfect Eyesight Without Glasses by Dr. Bates. The downloads on eye care and eye health are all free.

My daughter used to wear myovision lens in P3 but she still experienced slight increase of 75degrees in 1 year.

Since I’m highly myopic, I was really worried that her vision may deteriorate due to hereditary predisposition. Hence optician recommended that she tried the myopilux lens instead as it has higher success rate in controlling myopia.
I am very glad that we tried and there has been no increase in power since she started the myopilux lens 2 years ago. It really works for her and I highly recommend that u try it out.

Does your daughter wear the glasses at all times or when she can't see clearly?

The lens should have cost between $300-400 but it is worth it considering that she didn’t change her glasses for the last 2 years and best of all no increase in power!

My girl wears her glasses all the time becos her power is 325 degree each eye and she won’t be able to see clearly if she doesn’t wear it.

Parents who are concern about your child’s eyesight can consider giving them omega 3 which is rich in EPA and DHA, studies have shown that omega 3 is beneficial for the eyes. Also omega 3 is great for the brain development too. Other than that, we can consider taking G3 juice. This nutrient rich juice is wonderful and children will love it!
