I suggest adding additional cabins to the trains to increase capacity, one at each end of the train. These cabin will have no doors and passenger enter/exit via the cabin next to it.

It'll take forever for the person squeezed at the doorless cabin to come out during peak hours!! :faint:

So we may then have these situations:
      1. the doorless cabin remains pack near joint area only

if officers are assigned to shove passengers into doorless cabin,
      2. high casualty because people start to whack their way out :nunchuk:
      3. passengers in doorless cabin will miss their stop :stompfeet:
      4. mrt extend open door time and then back to square one...longer intervals :slapshead:

I could also imagine this is can be a nightmare for SCDF... 🀷

      :?

\"PAP MP says public has \"misunderstood\" Transport Minister on fare hike\"

          http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQxRsyQ2Psg&feature=share

          What do you think?
How on earth can manpower costs not be part of the cost and fare structure in the first place? Makes no sense to me. If taxi fares are raised in order to allow cab drivers to bring home higher income, how can wages of bus drivers not affect bus fares if they are raised too?

Unless, of course, the government is already subsidizing public transport and part of the subsidy goes to wages of bus drivers. Or it is expecting bus companies to absorb any increase in manpower costs through \"innovative side businesses\" such as advertising. That seems to be the message to me.

Wah, so fast reach the evaluation stage alreadi? Can we cook up more ideas first and suspend from judging at this point? This way, we encourage more ideas, no matter how crazy and wild they may sound. The best ideas are often borne from the craziest of ideas. Let's laugh with instead of laugh at the ideas, can? Let's say about at least 20 ideas? Is this too many? (personally, I find this number too small) Let's see how creative Singaporeans can really be. :rubhands:

Frankly, I don't feel there is a problem bcoz

              1. Personally, If I travel long distance, I would rather go to the extend cabin and go right to the end. Bcoz it is very irritating to always have pple moving around enter/exit and shoving their way and rub against your body.. I rather stand at a place with very little movement. A bit of inconvenience at boarding and alighting.. but 95% of the journey can enjoy more peace.. why not?

Some education may be needed such as standing left on escalator etc.. quite successful right?

              2. Pple shd be educated to make their way to the exit if it is, say, 1 stop away.

              3. Refer to 2.

              4. Refer to 2

In addition, SMRT can consider assign a no stand zone at the last cabin with doors to avoid obstruction to the pple in the doorless cabin.

Also, the last cabin with doors shd hv no seats to allow more space for movement or standing.

Why nightmare for SCDF when the emergency exit is at the 2 extreme end of the trains all along? In the event of emergency, it is always possible to exit onto the tracks, but not always possible to exit from the side doors.

And, in the event of emergency, passenger are not expected to be able to exit only via doors. They are supposed to be able to exit via breakable windows (its the case for buses.. not sure abt trains).

Just thinking out loud…a bit side-tracking… So if MPs and PMs get pay rise, where are the people going to get the money from if their own pay remains the same?

Sorry, you got me wrong. I'm not laughing at the idea or any idea for that matter. I'm merely putting in writing my thought process as I rationalize these ideas which are being proposed...

Understand. Not targetting at you - I actually pounded on the keyboard my response to Limlim's post, trying to pinpoint the loop holes, πŸ˜† only to withdraw at the last minute so as not to dampen the spirit of creativity and imagination - something that is highly lacking in our society.

I realised that Singaporeans are often too quick to put down ideas, too critical, too practical and too pragmatic, often at a very early stage of IDEA CREATIONS that in the end, nothing creative ever comes out, nothing gets resolved, no action is taken, and we go on with life, hoping someone else will solve OUR problems. Sometimes, it is better to carry forth a crazy idea and make it even more crazy, and kaboom - something emerges that no one had ever thought about, and not ONE person could have thought about alone.

I am just taking some initiatives to hopefully start a brainstorm session - not really thinking that we can help solve the problems, and come up with some solutions within this forum, but to start people thinking (hopefully) and becoming more creative and positive, less finger-pointing (whichever side you are on). Of course, along the way, getting some good medicine for the day - laughter πŸ˜†

(In any case, I also found your comments funny πŸ˜‚ .)
