I wouldn't blame him totally if his wife is reluctant to satisfy his needs. If this is so, then his wife is to be blamed as well. After all, he is a man and we can't expect him to lead a monk's life for the rest of his life. So for outsider, it is not for us to judge him unless u know the truth.

Someone of reasonable reputation already judged him to be an Honorable man..

Lets put it this way - he was never going to resign if there is no leakage to the media… The sequence of events tell the story exactly as it happened…

Leadership comes from Home. A person who messes up his/her life, how to become a leader? may be become the leader of roots.

If he confess and resign when it started as a rumour and nothing is conclusive at all.. then, I would say he is honourable and due credit to be given for his honesty.

BUT, if he resigned in the face of damning evidences sent to the press.. how can it be \"honourable\"? When he is probably faced with no other choice before the Sh!t hits the fan..

                  Agree.

To say that an act is honourable is to imply that the person performing the act is honourable. A person is typically honour by someone/establishment who holds that person in high esteem, especially when conferring him/her a title. One does not do this to an act.

For a prominent figure who strayed and got caught, a resignation from the establishment he was associated with in order not to tarnish the image of that establishment is an “honourable act” to those belonging to that establishment but not to those whose focus is on the “EMA”.

Indeed, “honourable” in this particular incident cuts both ways. To me though, it would have been somewhat honourable of him if he had admitted and resigned before he was caught but we were left to speculate if this was indeed the case; it would indeed be despicable of him to resign after being caught, given the lesson that he should have learnt from the YSL case.

The consolation for us is that we have politicians who will do everything to keep themselves “honourable” and will fall from grace for any improprieties, unlike incidents elsewhere (e.g. Bill Clinton –US, O J Simpson –US, Dominique Strauss-Kahn – France) where prominent figures can still held in high esteem after proven or suspected improprieties.

Two former Cabinet ministers, two office-holders and two senior lawyers were among the names suggested to be the next Speaker of Parliament by political observers yesterday, a day after Mr Michael Palmer's shock resignation.

A quote from \"Schindler's List\" comes to mind.
\"Power is when we have every justification to kill, and we don't\"

There is no honor in what the man did when he succumbed to temptation.
There is no honor in him resigning to take responsibility for his actions, whether he did it willingly or was forced to do it.

But the man is down, and his family hurt. The honorable thing for us as bystanders to do is to respect the fact that he did not go into a long-drawn denial that could have destroyed the faith that we may have in the integrity of our government and create more pain for those associated with him.

                      Live and let live.
