Brainfit Studio - Discussion
-
Both my sons (6 & 8 yrs old) attended Brainfit Classroom since 4 mths ago. Both of them like it very much. They have many hands on activities and computer activities.
I see a big improvement for my younger son. He used to have difficulties in reading English story books. He even started to show sign of rejection towards English. Tried to enrol him in I Can Read. No improvement at all after 9 mths. But after he started on Brainfit Classroom, his interest in reading boost up alot. Now, he will bring an English story book to me and tell me that he can read it by himself. I am very happy to see the result.b -
Don’t waste your money. Too expensive while computers always got problems. Tell friend about open house yesterday and all computers down for free demo!

Do you mean all computers broke down at the same time? Not possible unless sabotage involved. Which centre did your friend go to? My second son has been reading two grades above his age group. He started to read Harry Potter and he is only 8 years old. I tried LCentral but it was just worksheet tuition style and teacher was some elderly man. Didn’t last.

wahh, how you know why? You work for brainfitclassroom? So quick to reply to all topics Brainfit Classroom related,la. I see brainfitclassroom employee monitoring forum.

Firstly, I only joined this forum to ask for advise like most like-minded parents who care for their child’s future. Secondly, this is about the only post I have so have nothing to contribute other than this thread. Thirdly, I don’t appreciate your tone and think a parent like yourself should not act like a child. Fourthly, I have seen real improvements on my child’s reading with progress reports to prove it and school grades have improved so there is no reason why I should slam the Programme. Lastly, since I posted this thread, I didn’t get much response so I took it upon myself to contribute. I think you need to stop posting in a mature parents forum. Sigh.

Yeah, program work so well that they close Jurong East location at 200 jurong east avenue 1 less than 1 year later. Take at look at your first post show 4 locations.
TeacherDaddy:
Now only 3. Sorry, I share my advice too for fellow members to see for themselves. Many better programs around without computer problems all the time.4) There are currently 4 centres in Singapore and they incorporate MOE English syllabus. The latest one is run by a former MOE Teacher in a Hokkien Huey Kuan School at Bedok Reservoir.

Sigh. I can’t answer for that maybe boss there decided to close for personal reasons. I am not sure if you realise computers have been used by educators to improve learning hand in hand with good teachers. Were you ever told that your child was weak in English and was advised to read more but he wouldn’t? If so, like me you would be more appreciative of how technology like this has helped. My friend’s child was recommended to try it and he is autistic. Told me his child scored above 90 percent in Pathlight. He is on the home use programme. He just told me the reason for computer failure is because the host in USA does maintenance but it’s usually up and running in a day. I think we all know technology isn’t perfect. Maybe you can try to be more rational and not see things so negatively. Are you a parent?

hi kiasu-carer, i do not know much about brainFit classroom, but i must say they do use some programmes with pretty strong research proof and which are very well-designed from a neuroscience point of view.
i am a big fan of Dr Michael Merzenich's work http://merzenich.positscience.com/ , he was part of the team that invented the first cochlear implant to help hearing impaired individuals and also part of the team that created Fast ForWord, the programme brainfit classroom uses. you can read all about him and the programme in a book i highly-recommend \"the brain that changes itself\", available at kinokuniya. v easy to read for the layman and also has many other amazing real-life stories of people having their brains improved!
anyway, while it is true that computer-based educational programmes can be a pain when there are IT issues, we cannot deny that using computers and technology is the best way forward in education, since technology can adapt to the pace of each individual student while traditional one-teacher-to-many-students instruction caters only to a select group of students. i strongly believe teaching must adapt to the students and not have students adapt to curriculum! -

NOT Good. A waste of $ I have tried a package. Very nice when asking u to sign up but when $ paid .....different face. Cannot book weekends must pay extra and mons also cannot. I think if you buy those books outside from United Square can do at home. Nothing really fantastic. IMHO.
Dear KohLL,
Thank you for sharing your experience. We are disappointed to hear that you did not have a positive experience with us. At the same time, we are surprised to hear about your experience because from our parent feedback forms, parents generally give very positive feedback about our frontdesk scheduling experience and many have in fact highlighted our \"non-salesy\" approach.
Regarding additional weekend charges, we have resisted doing this over the past 10 years we have been in operation, and only just put this in place last year. As you can understand, weekends are the busiest for us and we have responded over the years by opening on both weekends. Unfortuantely, the demand for weekend sessions continue to grow hence we had to put that in place to encourage parents who can attend weekday sessions to do so. This has in fact helped eased our waiting list for weekend sessions.
As a significant proportion of our clients come from parent and professional referrals, we do take our students' progress and parent satisfaction very seriously. We will be sending you a private message and hope that you can get in touch with us to help us understand better how we may have lapsed in our service so that we can improve and also for us to see if we can assist you further.
Many thanks,
Like to know any difference between BrainFit Studio & BrainFit Classroom?
Hi
BrainFit Studio does only brain fitness training. BrainFit Classroom is another unit under their program which offers English enrichment and they incorporate some form of Brain Fitness training which supposed to boost the learning ability of the child.
I believe you can find more info from their respective websites.
Hi, thanks!
Anyone with children in their program, can give some comments or review?
How accurate is their mind mapping?
Is their report detailed?
Hi troubled (I hope you are not troubled anymore!
),
My girl has been to BrainFit at Novena and has improved a lot. I am especially happy because she focuses much better now and I have a much much easier time teaching her. Also less forgetful and school results had a big jump end of last year although I did take leave to help her prepare. My girl really enjoyed her sessions there. This is important because school has so much homework which she dreads! I really don't know why the school must give so much homework, it is quite crazy. Anyway, it is good to see her have some fun, which is also helping her brain develop. I think it has been worth it. Good luck!
