PSLE Woory guy:
Call the school and ask. That is the best I think. Ask them what is the deadline for appeal. Of course, you will need to fill up appeal form and submit all relevant documents, including PSLE result slip.kwcllf:
Good morning,
My son PSLE result was 237 so we applied for Commonwealth Sec, but just received the posting SMS that he is posted to Jurong Sec not Commonwealth Sec.
Please adv me how to send appeal for Common Sec school.
Thanks.
Thanks for the adv. I'll go to the school today to find out.
I hope this is not too late, and you are not on the way there yet. Please bring along all the pri sch results and certs, and be prepared to highlight your kid's other achievements in addition to academic. Check the sch's CCA, if your kid can contribute to their preferred CCA, be prepared to highlight that. Hope this helps.
This year there will be lots of appeal cases going around, with the increase in COP for a lot of schools. Parents & kids, all the Best to you for your appeal. But be realistic and learn to like the school you are posted during registration tomorrow, whilst waiting for your appeal results. I hope whichever school you go, you will be happy! -

Tomorrow the speculation on the top end non-affliated cut-offs (e.g. RGS,RI, HCI,) will be revealed. My bet is on the EESIS as indicator as this cutoff is for the top X number of students (since the number of places in indepedent schools hasnt changed much in past few years, and my estimate is about 1100-1200 EESIS awards are given). This removes some of the uncertainty across different years due to different number of PSLE students, difficulty of PSLE (harder generally means higher highest t-scores ie those mentioned in newspapers), and distribution of t-scores (PSLE 2009 had many higher top scores, but lower EESIS).
The COPs for these IP schools are all up 2-3 points.
Think COP for HCI, RGS, RI up 2 and NYG likely up 2.hoskins8h:
I didn't realize the number of students taking PSLE in 2009 was 49,856, higher than the Dragon year cohort this year.
My predictions:
1) COP for top tier IP schools will go up.
2) COP for other IP schools will remain about the same or go down minimally bec of the increase in IP places with the intro of new IP schools.
Just follow EESIS, it has the best characteristics for predicting the top COPs. -

Pen88n:
Hi Pen88n. Have you heard of cases where appeal is successful despite no contribution from CCA? When will the result of appeal be released? Does it mean that the kid does not purchase the textbooks and uniform from the sch he/she is posted to tomorrow first just in case the appeal is successful?I hope this is not too late, and you are not on the way there yet. Please bring along all the pri sch results and certs, and be prepared to highlight your kid's other achievements in addition to academic.
