River Valley High School principal assisting CPIB in investigation
      06:19 PM Dec 19, 2012

SINGAPORE - Mr Steven Koh Yong Chiah, Principal of River Valley High School, is assisting the Corrupt Practices Investigations Bureau (CPIB) in its investigation, said the Ministry of Education (MOE) in a statement today.

The MOE said it was informed by the CPIB, and the ministry will be re-deploying Mr Koh to the MOE HQ as Principal (Special Projects).

\"As investigations are on-going, we are unable to comment further on the case,\" said the MOE.

With effect from tomorrow, Mrs Teo Khin Hiang, 54, has been appointed as the new principal of River Valley High School.

The MOE said Mrs Teo \"is an experienced senior education officer\".

She was the Deputy Director of the Programme Coordination Office in MOE HQ, and previously the Principal of the Singapore Teachers' Academy for the Arts.

Prior to that, she held appointments as Cluster Superintendant and Principals of three schools - Chua Chu Kang Secondary, Pasir Ris Crest Secondary and Commonwealth Secondary.

\"MOE will work closely with Mrs Teo and her team at River Valley High School to ensure that school activities and programmes continue to be carried out smoothly, in the best interests of the students,\" said the MOE.

Does this means we can expect a criminal prosecution of this public figure? A Principal assisting CPIB is a rare thing and to be replaced in the process usually means something is amiss.

The fact that he is still allowed to work probably mean most people in MOE believe he is innocent.

Goodness. Is society becoming more corrupt these days, or is it just that more cases get reported?

Well, it's \"innocent until proven guilty\" but it does not say anything about MOE's stand. In the interest of rv, MOE has to ensure that there is as little disruption as possible. Putting someone else suitable for the job at this juncture makes sense.
