        mummy so kiasu:

Don't worry, Be happy. If you still worry that you can't celebrate Christmas this year, then celebrate in advance, on 20th Dec. If the world does not end on 21st Dec 2012, then we have another reason to celebrate on 24th Dec.

LOL. That's a great perspective! Thanks for the inspiration.

Wonder which time zone they referring to?
US time zone is behind us so their 21st is our 22nd

[i]Our never ending obsession with the apocalypse

Fears that the world will end on 21 December are rife, despite there being no evidence. So, why are we so fixated with end of the world theories?
          ...

To be really fair, the world DID end for many ancient civilisations, and not so long ago too. It ended for the Mayans. It ended for many other unknown peoples too, and judging from the ruins that were dugged up. And throughout the short 50 thousand year history of mankind, there were times when human kind were reduced to less than 30,000 survivors. Think pandemics. Think common disasters such as volcanoes and earthquakes. Think global warming. Don't even need to consider the countless number of threats coming from space - cosmic radiation from nearby supernovae, rouge asteroids, meteors, etc. We are really lucky to be still alive today, and that is a testament to mankind's ability to adapt to whatever nasty situations we may get ourselves into.

So while the world may not end in 9 days' time, it doesn't mean it wouldn't anytime later, or maybe within our lifetime.

My point is, we are really special to have survived this far. Let's celebrate and ensure that we fully live every minute of consciousness that we have been granted.

A friend just came back from a Maya tour via cruise. Maya guide say not end of world but beginning of new era.

I said "need to end first to begin something else" haha.

Some Singaporeans brace for the end of the world

47-year-old public researcher Andrew Teo is one person who thinks it is better to be safe than sorry. The family man has already gathered enough supplies and tools to last him and his family a good six months.
