I will check with the sch I asked for transfer with. My girl has to transfer school due to health and medical reasons. Even so it is up to the sch to decide. I have approached many schools and most do not really have a staff in charge of admissions. They tend to be quite straight forward and applying for transfer is simply submitting a form with required results. So far, my dd’s current school do not have a policy where they pass us a trasfer form to use for application. There is a MOE standard and protocol I suppose.

When we fill in the waitlist form and the school is asking what you can contribute to the school. Is the school referring to donation? It means that if we donate $$$ to the school then they will accept my child?

You can provide free services if you have the expertise but I think they won’t accept cheques nowadays. Too blatant and the principal could get into trouble. And what is an "adequate" amount?

Ways to contribute means voluntary work and other special ways you can help the school - morning reading, chaperone kids to external activities, provide free chartered bus services (one private bus driver did that), give career talks etc.

I heard of one case. A very popular school, I can’t name the school, in Bt Timah area, willing to admit a child if the parents can "donate" $XXX,XXX. 6 figure amount!!

I would say I heard it from a mother who has investment contact with the other parent who wants to enrol his child in that popular school. It's really a ridiculous amount but the ultimate outcome, I have yet to know.

Unless you have concrete proof that these two (monetary contribution and school admission) are linked, it is better not to spread what you heard because it is purely speculation.

I understand where you are coming from and appreciate your feedback. It's all right if you take my post with a pinch of salt.

I heard this type of pattern too.

Some asking for maintenance of tennis court and swimming pool. Or building the tennis court and swimming pool itself.
Anyhow, whether it is true or not. Eventually the swimming pool and tennis court were built in that school.
Just don't wish to break people rice bowl. MONEY is the power.

Can I know which parent is it and which school?
Will need to report to MOE! A must report case!

Such dishonesty which breeds their younger generation as society outcast and vermins.
