Appeal Secondary One Posting

It seems from this forum that alot of parents are appealing, but how come I called one of the schools, they said they dont have students appealing out of the school yet! Cant be, the movement should be very great this year as many students didnt get their first choices! I am sure there will be tons of appeals at the schools. Or perhaps its xmas holiday season, so the appeals have not been processed?


Anyone appealed and gotten replies?

Am also waiting to hear the outcome of the appeal in MGS

We appealed to RI. DS missed the COP by decimals! He had taken the DSA GAT before in June and he was selected for the second round. That's helped in the appeal process too.

Yes Bonnie. I gave up appealing after I found out the COP of our 1st choice went up by 4 points this year. My DS was 1 mark below last year COP. With this year COP, he is now 5 marks below. Well we are glad we skipped the anxiety of waiting for appealing results.

Not forgetting this batch is also the dragon baby boom year. More pupils competing for the seats.

How does the appeal actually work?


1) Only when someone transfers out of the school then there is a vacancy? Meaning 1 out and 1 in, like a 1-for-1 replacement.

2) There are some buffer as in additional vacancies reserved for appeal cases? Meaning the school is willing to open maybe 1 more class.

For 1), it should be always possible. For 2), does MOE already determine the intake or the school has the discretion to increase the intake?

I guess, for IS school, it should be case2. For government school like NJC, DMH, RVHS, it should be case1.

I called vs and they mentioned appeal result out on 31 dec in their website. There will be no interview conducted.
