My DS has admitted VS via DSA (sports). VS COP is 247. Very worried now as am afraid he might not be able to cope there. Any parent here with DS also admitted to VS via DSA. Can I seek your advise on any preparation to help them. :thankyou:

what is your DS cop? what sports is he in?
some years back, i came across a boy who had 225/226 and entered VS because of sports. he worked very hard and entered VJC by merit. i do not know any more details than this though. -
My dear son #1 will be starting his Sec 1 in VS IP.
1) are there restrictions on the sort of school shoes that can be worn? Can he wear white New Balance track shoes ( for example)?
2) how much is reasonable daily allowance at this level?
3) we live in the west - what is the normal expected time that his day will end in school? He has 3rd language and most likely 2 CCAs
4) Anyone can share tips and what to expect for new Sec 1 boy going to VS IP ?
Appreciate anything that can be shared as I realised there is quite limited info as this is a new pro for the school. -
My DS will be in Sec 1 VS next year and is thinking of joining the Red Cross or Scout as a CCA. Any current VS boys or parents would like to share their experiences in these two CCAs (how often they need to stay back for CCA, what kind of activities they are involved in etc). TIA!

VS Arrow Scouts is managed by a teacher who was an ex-student and a scout.
The Scouts meet once a week on Saturday, unlike most other CCAs. It is important to check the schedule for Red Cross.
The bonding in scouts is very good. In fact, old boys including those in VJC often come back to help out.
My DS didn't opt for scouts from the beginning despite our encouragement. After a few weeks unhappy time with music, he decided to transfer to scouts.
With scouts, he learnt life skills and toughened up his physical well being.
Just to name a few of their activities - outdoor camp, cooking competition at every camp, cycling, kayaking, dragon boating, jogging around the school or the lagoon, learn and play all kinds of games such as floorball, soccer, bowling during camp, captains ball, etc.
They worked hard during job week to reap the rewards mentioned above.
The scouts also have overseas trips.
Hope this little information helps. -
Anyone can advise where to buy VSH uniform beside from the school? Thanks!

2. most of the meals are below $2, so $3/meal with drinks is enough, but the boys will have their lunch in school most of the days.
3. dismissal varies 1pm-3.30pm, 3rd lang is on monday, some CCA may end as late as 6pm.
4. lots of project works in group or individual, often meet up on weekends to do projects, core subjects are quite manageable. -
