Cedar Girls Secondary School

Don't worry about the COP. Nobody will be able to predict the figure. Besides, there is a general perception that the T-scores this year could be lower than previous years, so the COP for most schools would correspondingly drop. There are instances in other schools where the COP could vary by as much as 5 points between 2 successive years. We could get to talk to one of the teacher & they expect COP to go up , simply because last two years school was in holding site & with new facility in place, they would be back to 2006/7 cut-off 247..
That made our mood sink
We left without seeing performances -
Hi to all, based on what i read in most forums KSP included; there seems to be a general perception that COP for this year would drop.
My own take on this subject is COP may drop for neighborhood schools but for top schools the COP may be higher. This should be consistent with the wider spread of lowest T-score 45 and Highest T-score 290 compared to last year's lowest T-score 87 and highest T--score 287.
Somehow, many have shared and tried to relate between their child's grading and T-score but no good conclusion can be made. This may sound absurb but i do believe apart from those students who have a T-score of 260 and above, T-score is just a mean for MOE to distribute all the children to fill up the schools.
Any comments on my posting? -

Thank you so much, Jedamum. :salute:heutistmeintag,
not sure if these are the fastest way, but they are the only few ways that i am familiar with
in case you have not found out....heutistmeintag:
I am not familiar with the public transport system  as I have been driving in the past. Could anyone help to advise what is the easiest/fastest way to get from Pasir Ris or Tampines MRT to
1) Cedar Girls
1) MRT to Potong Pasir MRT --- walk
2) Tampines Interchange - Bus No. 8, 65 to Macpherson (Landmark : Betime Bldg) --- walk
Bus 8 Route

Bus 65 Route

if your mind is set to select this school, after a few days, your girl should be able to find out from her friends the nearest/fastest way to commute from home to school cos she should be able to find a mix of students from all across SG.
(i spent some weeks taking feeder bus to interchange to take bus to sch before finding out from friends that there is a short-cut
)
Good Luck! -
Hi all
I’m a Secondary 2 pupil in CGSS next year. My class has also been chosen to do the 1-to-1 computing. The school aims to get feedback on the spot during classes. This will help to address any concerns or questions in class. This information can also be used by the teacher to further improve his/her lessons and be able to know where the students are weak in, so as to be able to ‘polish up’ those areas.
Our principal is a very nice lady, she really does make you feel at home in the school. In my secondary 1 year, the teachers and the other Cedarians have helped me to adjust to the school.
@heutistmeintag - if your daughter does go to the school, I can help her on the way home if she needs it, as I also live in Pasir Ris.
PS - I don’t mind answering more questions about my school

Hello! My sister just got her posting results this morning and thankfully she got into Cedar. It was her second choice, first being RGS. We were expecting Cedar to accept her and now I am rather excited to visit the school tomorrow to check it out! The new building and facilities sound exciting!
We're residing in Pasir Ris too, near MJC. So the fastest way for my sister to travel to the school would be taking the 20 min 81 bus ride to Kovan MRT, and then Potong Pasir is 2 stops away from Kovan, if I am not mistaken.
Any other routes you may recommend?
How is the school overall? Quite excited for my sister! Hoping the girls school environment will be a good one! I myself am from a neighbourhood school in Pasir Ris and now starting my Seoond Year at a JC. Hoping that Cedar leads my sister to greater heights!
Oh yea btw, my sister had opted for Arabic as her third language, but no updates about it today from MOE. What is the procedure? -

About the 1-to-1 computing, I have a notebook now shared by a few people in the family and is wondering if I should get another one for her or we accommodate her schedule. Do you have any idea how often would the notebook be used? If everyday, then I think I have no choice but to buy her another notebook. Which model do you recommend?
On transport, I have put her on school bus 1-way in the mornings and she will return on her own. We are \"practising\" the return route within these few days. lol
Anyway, I am more concerned how she will adapt to the new environment e..g choosing CCA, HMT, coping with her studies (need tution?). If you dont mind, any advice from you on these? -
Only a few more days to get the notebooks for 1-to-1 computing programme. What are the rest of students/parents getting? I look at the options but cannot decide. hahaha
The salesman at Cedar told me the Acer Aspire One Slim was popular because it’s the bang for the buck but I have bad experience with Atom processor because it was really slow. Considering the other Aspire model because it comes with Windows 7 and I heard it’s fast but not sure if Acer notebook can last 4 years. -

The Atom processor is more than sufficient for what the kids have to do. The beauty of netbook is in the size, weight, and much longer battery life.Only a few more days to get the notebooks for 1-to-1 computing programme. What are the rest of students/parents getting? taking bus 81 to kovan then change train to potong pasir should be the right way from Pasir Ris. But do take note that Bus 81’s frequency is about 10 to 15 mins. I hate to take this bus but has to do so to go to Kovan hence she must not miss the bus in the morning otherwise has to wait quite long for the next bus. It is only 6 min train ride to Potong pasir from Kovan. It will take at least another 10 to 15 mins walk into Cedar from the train station, passing by the pte properties… Good school to go to and it is new…

For those of you staying in Pasir Ris where 81 plies, do you have 53? If you do, can also consider taking 53 from Pasir Ris and alight at Serangoon MRT and from there, it is definitely nearer to hop onto the train bound for Potong Pasir. Besides, I think 53 is quite frequent especially in the mornings. I think between the 2, 53 is more frequent than 81.
