1 spot....OMG, but I'm trying it out anyway! Thanks for your reply!
HiJakaranda:
Hi I'll be joining RGS next year!
Just one question regarding the tennis CCA of RGS.
I did not DSA into RGS and entered through PSLE. However, I am interested in joining the tennis CCA of RGS( I have been training since P3).May I know if I can join tennis CCA when school starts or only DSA-tennis players are allowed in the school team?
When is the training, usually? I heard that it might clash with 3rd language lessons.
so sorry if this is a little late! I didn't see your post u until now...
Anyway, I'm a current rgs student (year 2 next year) and I have a friend in tennis cca. It's ok if u didnt DSA thru tennis - there will be cca trials for tennis and all the other ccas early next year. U can sign up for the tennis trials n if u do well at the trials, u can still get in
Everyone who joins sports ccas at rgs will be on the school team so if u get in thru trials, u will be given a spot in the school team (although it doesn't mean you'll actually get to play in tournaments since only 7 of the 12 member of the team get to play
...)
Training next yr will either be on mon / tues + thurs (I think, that was my friend's schedule for this yr anyway) plus Friday too during competition season. It's ok if u have third Lang on Friday tho cos you'll be excused from Friday training. My friend has third lang too so she just skips the training anyway.
However, my friend told me that tennis will most likely only accept 1 non-dsa player thru trials next year! That's cos they already accepted like 5 dsa tennis players or sth...
Anyway, GOOD LUCK
:thankyou: -

No Japanese class on Friday, for Sec 1 in 2013, at Bishan Campus. That was what I was told and hence, did not apply for a transfer.
Bishan doesn't have Japanese class? But my new class is on Friday, and also at Bishan...
Actually, no. Most of the time, my class is half dead. The 3 hours seem to past super slowly, partly because we were all nearly dead from the lessons in the morning. But still, there are times when it was enjoyable. Especially when you come across random Japanese words, it feels good to say \"Hey i understand this\" etc.
Did any other parent or student receive different information ?
In fact, I applied for a change of language so that she can study in the Bishan campus, which is just a 10min bus ride from home.
I admire your perseverance in continuing with the lessons. There is light at the end of the tunnel.
On hindsight, many of us adults wish that we had not given up on learning a foreign language during our younger days.

How abt Y1 class allocations? Is it on the notice board already? Are the toilets better now?

We were quite surprised & glad that our DD's German class (Bishan) would be all from RGS. The class size is about 30.
watmekiasu:
True, she prob won't be in the same class. Somehow, it just never crossed my mind that the 3rd language would be co-ed.Choco05:
Your DD won't be in the same class as all those who reported and were in front of you, you know?
My Jap class for 2 years has been an all girls class for some reason. I think RGS schedule does not meet with other schools so we have lessons on different days...
BGR issues cannot be avoided simply because you are in a single sex school. Many still have boyfriends/girlfriends anyway.
We registered at the Bishan campus but will have to attend at Newton's as Bishan does not have Japanese classes on Fridays.
Choco05, are you enjoying your Japanese lessons ? I know I read earlier that you will be continuing with it, do you look forward to each lesson ? Does the 3 hours fly or excruciating after 1.5 hours ? -
As far as I know, all are from the same school in third language classes. Because they are majority.
Some cases may be the child score 250 above and choose a sec sch near the house. Then he or she will have to make different arrangement. -
Can you please share the link?Thank you.

Haven't seen them.
Canteen and toilets(yes, to your relief
)are undergoing upgrading when i went back 2 days ago. Mostly done, except a little more painting. The new toilets are definitely much cleaner, so i hope it stays that way. Canteen was repainted and every stall changed, plus i think there are new lockers as well.
