May I know if the school book-shop, which is managed to Popular, accepts Popular gift-vouchers ?

      It does.

Is there a designated pick up point within the language centre at Newton?I'm asking coz I'm not too sure if I will be allowed to drive in to fetch my daughter after class dismissal.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Also, what must they bring on the first day to school (2 Jan)? Sorry, this mama is a little clueless šŸ˜›

        Happy NEW YEAR!!!

        Giro form.

I think there is a pick up pt just outside the sch canteen area.

        :thankyou:

You don't have to take leave for most of these events. My parents never took any leave for my PSLE, nor did they do so for Reporting Day or any part of Orientation, and it was ok. So if you really can't make it, don't worry šŸ™‚ Though my friends' parents did go for Reporting Day and watched the Orientation concert also (ours was on Saturday), they did not go for the rest of Orientation either šŸ™‚
Your parents must have had full confidence in you.

My dd requested for me to take 1/2 day on PSLE exam days for moral support. I could not say no.Took 1 day on Results Collection in case there was a disaster. šŸ˜„ Took 1 day for Reporting Day as I had never visited the school before. Dd skipped MEP audition as I could not get leave and she still had no idea how to get to the school. She had a School Dental appointment on the same morning as the MOELC registration, so we both headed to different appointments. Actually, that did not need a half day leave as MOELC was efficient and fast. I won't be going for the CCA orientation but would like to watch the Concert. Hope it's still on a weekend. Seriously, my daughter has never seen so much of me - I usually work till 8pm plus every weekday and return to work on some weekends.

My parents work similar times, but it worked out because I was in a very, very lucky situation. No parent in my primary school class took leave during PSLE exam days, and as I'd my DSA already, I wasn't nearly as nervous for results. For Reporting Day, my dad dropped me off on his way to work, and I was lucky enough that I had good friends, and one of them had nice parents who \"adopted\" me, though I'd to go to GO and say I couldn't submit forms. And he just picked me up after the Orientation concert. I didn't take a 3rd Lang. I was fine with most of it actually, I didn't feel neglected at all. Except that maybe I'd wish that my dad went to watch our Orientation concert, but I'm fine with all the rest šŸ™‚

Just fyi also, this year's Orientation Concert (if the schedule has not changed since I last saw it), is on Friday Week 1 (for previous years, we started school on Monday/Tuesday and Orientation was just that week till Saturday, so the concert was Saturday). It's from 530 - 710 pm, and the timing may be less of a stretch I guess considering it's not really early. But I would encourage you to go if you can, especially if your dd wants you to šŸ™‚

My dd was most or less the same. Though I did offer to go with her to collect result, but in the end, just dropped her at school. She did most of the rest all by herself. In fact, I feel that she is happier to do her own things by herself. šŸ˜‚

We have agreed that she will take public bus to and fro school, it is time for my girl to be independent.

Just a note though, I checked and the Concert's 615 - 745 pm instead, so it should mostly already be after work šŸ™‚ Your dds should have the schedule (or get them on Wed), and it's uploaded on iNet but I don't think Sec 1s get access to that till mid-Jan šŸ™‚

Hi, There is no mention of the orientation concert in the documents given on reporting day. Can I confirm that the orientation concert is on 11 Jan, Friday, from 6.15 pm to 7.45 pm? Does that mean that those students taking third language will have to go for third language classes first before coming back for the orientation concert? Thanks!

Here is the latest schedule I am aware of:

                      12-330 Technical Full-dress
                      330-430 Concert Prep
                      430-530 Clean-up
                      530-615 Settle down for concert
                      615-740 Concert
430-740 Concurrent event: Orientation Tea-cum-Conert for Parents
                      745 Home Sweet Home šŸ™‚

I would assume that such an arrangement should be made, though you should clarify with teachers and/or GO / etc for a clearer answer, as I am really unsure about this point šŸ™‚

I've asked a junior, the literature book for sec 1s next year will be \"Gathering Blue\", the sequel to \"The Giver\" by Lois Lowry (which we did this year). Should be fairly reliable?
