Me too.....feeling heavy hearted. Really worried for dd. So not looking forward to it.I know this is too early and probably silly..but I woke up this morning feeling a bit breathless that the P6 is finally here!
Understand from many of you that revision will intensified starting from June. Do you think it is do-able to bring DS out for 3days' getaway at the start of June holiday? We do not want to stress him so much at home since the school will be doing a lot of that. -

Yup have to check with school but also want to book in advance. greedy me!
The getaway is a good idea if your ds likes the idea too. But many schools have supplementary classes at the beginning of June holidays for PSLE students. So you might want to check on that first.happyheart:

Your DS rather serious hor..good thing his efforts went recognised by getting very good results. Congratulations! :rahrah: Not sure if my DS will accept or reject getaway in June but I know he is starting to feel the stress. As parents, academic is important but certainly it cannot beat well being of our children. Hee...think 3 off-days should be ok:)
Good idea...if a break will de-stress him. However, check with the school's schedule. Most schools conduct supplementary lessons during June holidays.happyheart:

Suggested this to my DS when he was sitting for PSLE last year. He turned the offer down, said having a break from revision will stress him further, cos he can't study and won't enjoy himself during the holiday. So we didn't go and tried not to give additional pressure at home. In the end, it worked out well. He did very well for PSLE. And we went for a long holiday after the PSLE. :boogie: -

challenging but I try to remind myself whether heavy hearted, breathless or not..I am not the one sitting for the exam so I shouldn't let my emotion and mood affect DS. Only can stress and sops behind closed door
Of course, sometimes will accidentally show on the face or in my tone of voice but if possible, will try to create a normal environment for him to cope with the stress. If I really feel that I cannot control, will walk away and exercise really hard, charge my body up with Endorphins! KSP here is another great comfort, can pour your heart out :hugs:
btw, are you worried because of your DD P5 result or her attitude towards PSLE? -

My DS is the diligent and disciplined sort...well, most of time. Sometimes, he needs a push but most of time, there's no need to. Had to make sure he remained motivated till PSLE, and don't burnout. Thought a short holiday was a good idea but he was soooo against it. In the last few months before PSLE, my aim was not to add pressure at home, give lots of hugs and TLC, cook his fav food, lend a listening ear and getting him to bed early.
If your DS is already feeling stressed than I think a short break is good...something to look forward to when he is stressed and tired...also both you and him can recharge before the final preparation to PSLE.
Yup, I felt that breathlessness.... And helplessness.... And sudden panic. Don't worry, it'll pass. Don't let kids see. Just focus on what you can do...devise a strategy / plan for revision?.. monitor progress and focus on what he needs to do to get the A*?.. how to reduce the stress and bring a smile on his face? etc. Be there to help, support and encourage.
The whole 2012 PSLE episode has brought DS and I closer...it was difficult...but looking back, it was also memorable.
All the best for the 2013 PSLE!

i agree with KSmon8. My DD science tutor told tne class to \"enjoy\" the P6 journey. Whether the family takes the examination too seriously or takes it normally, it is only one in the life time experience for the child. Try to \"enjoy\" it.
Enjoy is a strange word to use for P6.
It's a year to drink Brands & Vitamin C to maintain our health and build up immunity. Oh yes, drink more water. -

In fact they are having the same FT as P5 and FT already sms us last week on the things to bring, etc.... FT is really on the ball. Lucky for them.
But we were like???? What so soon??? CA1... Actually things will end just before term 1 holiday so no surprise right???? But the wierdest thing is they didn't publish anything for P5 and only did that for P6.
I was alittle worried as to the FT my P5 will be getting this year.... as potentially same teacher next year. He said FT is young and funny. Hopefully in a good way though. Sometimes young teachers have their way to connect as well. But... she just got married so I am unsure if baby is on the way soon...
