My first kid is in Sec sch today so I am kind of blur as to what to expect.

I have some questions and hope to receive advices.

My kid didn’t take HMT (Chinese) in pri sch but I would like him to try to see if he can manage. His sec sch says he can try for one yr to see how it goes.

      Can anyone advise the followings:

      1) If DS studies HMT, will he also sit for the normal MT for ‘O’ level? Like taking both exams?

      2) I heard that normal MT ‘O’ level is taken when in Sec 3, is it the same with HMT?

      3) A student must achieve at least what pass in HMT than he/she can skip taking MT in ‘A’ level?

      4) Is HMT in sec difficult?

      TIA!

If you take HmT you take he normal Chinese o level exams in sec 3 with the sec4s who do normal Chinese. You take your HmT exams in sec 4. Yes it’s difficult. Most of my friends who get a1 for all their subjects the only thing that they do badly is HmT, get Bs and Cs.

Oh and to skip taking Chinese in As all you need to do is pass. Though most schools will make you drop HmT if for the normal Chinese paper you get worse than a B3/A2.

Tomorrow kids will be zombie. Slept at 10.30pm & gonna wake up 6am.

For whole holiday, both woke up ~10am 😉

            Holiday was good. Haizzzzzz. :gloomy:
            Time for me to :snooze:

Ya... Holiday was good. Both the kids & I only get sufficient sleep during the school holiday. Once school reopen, all of us have to get up at 6.30am. Going to miss the holiday. Btw, some schools such as Dunman High & Nan Chiau High only starts on next Monday 8th Jan.

DS school is also starting next week. He went to sch these few days for his Sec 1 Orientation . Enjoying himself before sch starts 😄

Yup...day 2 of orientation today. After 2moro, lessons will start formally.

Complained about the numerous rules to remember etc etc etc. My ears were very busy listening to both the kids' stuff...form teachers, classmates, classroom, subjects.

I was zombie yesterday...slept past midnight and waking up only at 8am for the whole holiday. The holiday was GOOD. :please:

                Lessons have started yesterday.

Anyone know of centres that train speech. Always been impressed by how some kids can talk and deliver great speeches. Very impressive first impression.

I also think it is important to speak well as well as to develop the skill to put others at ease in ones presence. Have met some kids who have already developed such social skill very well.

We put the Debating Club as one of the CCA options as the school engages an external trainer to guide the students.

Can try Toastmasters classes or the LAMDA certification.

Son told me teachers have warned them about adhoc tests...my son is still very much in dreamland. P asked the parents to get kids to read before lessons...for him, homework done and that's it  subjects like history, geography and literature need to be revised. It's driving me nuts seeing him so bochap.

This week is CCA trial week. Need to go back to school for CIP (collect old newspapers) on this sat. Still can’t decide on the core CCA. Limited choices & no background.
