P3 Science - Is tuition required?
-
My boy only started Science tuition in P4. P3 Science is rather basic & no necessary to have tuition. Get get the lower block guide book & assessment book will for child & these will be sufficient.

I think P3 not necessary to start Science tuition yet...maybe P4 since it involves the whole of lower block. -
AdonciaTang:
I agree. Some teachers can really teach well.
P3 and 4 is quite okay, but when to pri 5 and 6... Aiyo the way they answer the questions are all different already. But it also depends on their teachers in school too, Some teachers can teach very well. and they can grasp the concept easilyForeverfriends:
My son's school uses i science interact, inquire, interact
Seems like Science is a tough subject? -
AdonciaTang:
Agreed with janet. Younger son did very well in science in pri 3-4 but plunged in pri 5. found out from his teacher which I send him to now said that his answering is not the correct way of answering. He failed during CA1 and SA1, I was super duper worried, and quickly send him for tuition through my sis recommendation and he improved to band 2 when he had his SA2.[/quote]Wow. Thats good.janet_lee88:

Personally I feel it is necessary unless schools teach students the skill to handle MCQ questions and open-ended. If kids do not have foundation, it will affect PSLE grades. -
lower block science was still manageable…but at p5, i really couldn’t take it anymore. the topics related to electricity and magnets was beyond me. upper block science is no joke.
i am eagerly waiting for the first talk in daughter’s school…at least i know what to expect at p3…if skill is taught to handle mcq/oe section, i have a peace of mind. -

That is their job.janet_lee88:

hi nms1,
i faced the same problem when son was in p3…but that’s history.
all i heard was ‘must indicate key word’…labelling a plant for eg, that’s of course…but with open-ended, it requires a correct sequence and technique to answer.
will refresh my memory later…read up on diversity. -
Hi,
I have encounter the same issue when my child in P3. He grasp the concept however he is not able to answer to the key word. A friend of mine told me at their stage need to enforce them on the key words and concept. Can work them on assessment. I think it did work for the child from my experience. -
Monster Mummy:
Yes they need to start from pri 3 to have that habit or else when until p5/6, its so difficult for them to change that habit.Hi,

No need, let them try first.
