Regarding the handbook being flimsy, I wrapped my DD’s with the usual plastic wrapper last year and it survived very well. So this year, I wrapped it again. It is also possible to buy a ready-made plastic cover from Popular.
I also tied a ribbon (about 30 cm long) to the spine of the handbook so that my DD can use it as a bookmark. This way, she can use the ribbon to get straight to the page for the present week. It minimizes flipping around (and therefore wear and tear) and also allows her to get to the page for the week very quickly. -

If I'm not wrong, last year there was balloting at Phase 2 C, can't remember was it for beyond 2km, most likely it was. Only 1 girl didn't get in. Kind of sad for her, since the rest of the parents in the balloting room went out smiling except that family.Hi ezmummy (sorry somehow I can't reply with quote)...
I was trying to search for 2012's P1 registration exercise results to see how was the situation with Phase 2C but I kept getting previous years.
Anyways, what is the likelihood of success of getting into SMPS for those outside of 2km? Also, I know that there is a Phase 2A for parents who were former students. I'm wondering if the school recognise parents from SMSS to qualify for this category? (I know SCGS does) It would be great if it does because my primary school no longer exists but I was a former student from the secondary school though. I can't do PV because it would be too late now...so Phase 2B is definitely out.
They also don't take in Sec alumni. You may want to email to confirm. -

Thanks Caynelle for your suggestion. I'm sure it is helpful. I hope the school will look into the quality for future handbooks. My son's school's is cheaper and last a lot better.Regarding the handbook being flimsy, I wrapped my DD's with the usual plastic wrapper last year and it survived very well. Plus she has her P1 to jaga too.
Hi Jacsplace,
you are most welcome...
yes, agree the buddy sister must jaga the P1 closely...that's important to help the P1ers adapt quickly... -
May I check if the school bus rules of less than 1hr journey still apply now? With reporting time change to 7.30am, I wonder how early girls have to wake up to take school bus to school, esp. those out of 2 km?

Hi parents, my daughter jus started p1. Did e form teacher inform yr child abt buying e handbook? We didnt know we need to buy handbook until yesterday first day of sch. Tdy is second day of sch n my daughter says teacher scolded them for nt buying e bk yet. Based on above feedbk, if bkshop has long queue, then hw does a p1 child purchase e handbook? Appreciate any advice. Tks!
I went to buy on 1st day of school at 7plus and there is no queue.
But hw can the teacher scold p1 student when they dun even know wat is that.
Hope my daughter is exaggerating on e scolding part. -
perhaps u can call the bookstore and check if they open on sat. Alternatively, u ask yr dd to approach her buddy sis for help.

My DD got hers via her teacher.
I agree with Yaokel – teacher should not be scolding students for such things. the handbook is never ready during the year-end hols, it’s only available when school starts. Of course, all students will scramble to go get it! -

Wonder y some teachers can help to purchase while others mus purchase direct frm bkshop.anyway strange a handbook which is noted to b flimsy n late in prodn (available only after sch hols) is stil being used by e sch. Perhaps they can consider changing supplier? I m nonetheless thankful dd managed to get a copy.My DD got hers via her teacher.
