I do see non-chinese students in Hong Wen. I do not know about Bendemeer Primary. I chose Hong Wen because I want my kids to learn more about Chinese culture and values. My dd1 learned about di zi gui, wushu, erhu, Chinese calligraphy, etc. All these were within curriculum time.Hi,
What is ur opinion for admitting a non chinese in Hong Wen?
Is is good to choose Bendemeer Primary over Hong Wen?
Kindly suggest!!
If you are non-Chinese and considering Hong Wen, then you have to think about how to ensure your mother tongue is not neglected because Hong Wen does not have other MT besides Chinese. In addition, your child will have to be comfortable in speaking Mandarin, reading and writing Chinese.
Hong Wen do have non-Chinese teachers and during racial harmony wk, the students are exposed to other cultural activities. But most of the time, the emphasis is on Chinese culture and values. -
As u rightly guessed, m non chinese. Earlier my daughter was in local kindergarten where she had Chinese as a subject but she didn’t picked up much. Though the school is very close to my place and is good in terms of academic I am very inclined to get her in the school. As long as there are some culutural values taught , m fine. But I guess there is no vacancy for P2 next year, so it ll get ruled out by itself. Any suggestion on Bendemeer primary?

If you are considering to transfer your child from another school, you can contact Hong Wen, 6294 3340, to check if there are vacancies in P2 and if not, to be placed on waiting list.
I have not done any research on Bendemeer Primary. Have to wait for other parents to share or you can post your question in the Bendemeer Primary School thread.

only one school entered into balloting :-
Hong Wen primary
Balloting was conducted for Singapore citizenship children, residing within 1km of the school.
88 registered, 47 places.
for Bendemeer and Farrer Park primary -
still left many vacancies after 2C ended. No balloting was needed.
Bendemeer primary
71 registered, 99 places.
Farrer Park primary
23 registered, 158 places. -
Thank u phtthp.
I was looking at hong wen and was trying to find out the statistics.
It looks discouraging that the vacancies for phase 2c is getting lesser each year.
Can I find out what happens if say I am not successful in phase 2c,
I have to go to other schools that has vacancies left over at phase 2c sup?
How many days are there to register for phase 2c? I notice reading some sent in application on day 1, then say day 3 they found out 1-2km no chance they withdrew.
Out of this 88 applicants, how many are 1km?
88 applicants refers to 1km, 1-2km and more than 2km? -
phtthp,
You can be the forum’s resident archivist for P1 stats liao, very detailed infor
ryes,
So far, 3 days are allocated for P2C registration. If unsuccessful in P2C, you will need to consider schools with vacancies in P2CS.
88 should be total registered at the end of Day 3. MOE does not release how many are eligible for balloting, only state distance and nationality eligible for balloting. You can try checking with the school for the details. -
Hi sahm
Thank u.
So 88 would consists of everyone.
But we are not sure out of 88, how many are within 1km and eligible for the balloting right?
Can any mummies share for p1 Maths workbook and textbook, what’s the title.
