Yes it's a common complain. Try telling your son to pull up the shirt's shoulder strap after he has put his haversack on his back, ie. after he pulls the strap the button should no longer be resting under the bag strap, and hence pressing on the shoulder. It should help alleviate the pain.

I sewed some padding under the shoulder strap buttons. That helps to alleviate the pain when ds carries the haversack.

There are no top P3 class(es) this year. Last year's P2s were allocated \"randomly\" to their P3 classes though it did not seem totally random, e.g., group by CCAs, ... etc

Yes that is correct. If PE on Monday or CCA like sports or dance, don't have to wear uniform and tie.

Confirm that for Primary School section - yes, can wear for whole day. Only in Sec School, they have to report to school in full uniform and change for PE and change back after.

If play violin in the school's string ensemble also would be troublesome with the button there at the shoulder!!! My boy actually took out the button last time during practices. Cutest thing is, in secondary school - changed school but new school uniform also have button at shoulder. *bleh*. haha.

Only Sec Sch need to have compulsory CCA coz have points, and very impt bc the 1 or 2 points can be used for deduction of the L1R5 score, which can make a difference betw going to a top JC or just an above average JC.


Pri sch, no official CCA points. Join only for self development, and if good, you can use the CCA for DSA admission to a Sec sch of your choice, depending on whether the CCA that you join is the niche CCA of the Sec sch that you are eyeing for.

So you have to choose the CCA based on what your aim is. Usually 3 scenarios:

1) KS parents eyeing a top Sec sch, then before joining cca, better go to that sec sch's website to find out what their niche cca is. Also, go to that sec sch's website to find out for previous year's DSA, what are the CCA that have a chance to be shortlisted & interviewed by them. Then join those cca regardless of whether your child has interest. During the next few years, make sure your child do well in those cca, get prizes (need to be either interschool or national level), then in mid year of P6, use these stellar results to apply for DSA to the Sec sch of your choice.

2) Just join the CCA that your child is interested in, regardless of whether you will get any good returns from it. To you, your child's happiness is the most impt thing.

3) Your child likes the CCA very much & can perform very well, and derived satisfaction from it, and it can be used a DSA in P6. Then lucky you

I see CIP points in the Report Book but not CCA points. IN either case, there is no use for points in primary school.
